Hi everyone! Hope you’re all good?
I’ve been a bit confused over the last week or so, just wondering if someone could possibly settle my mind?
I’ve been taking Desogestrel for a good few years now (maybe like 4/5) - I’ve never had any trouble with it, get the occasional surprise bleed every few months but I’ve heard it’s normal when you suppress your periods for so long. I’ve been on it for so long now I get a years supply. When my script was dispensed last year I didn’t double check the dates and I finished up with a couple of packs expiring in June, and because I didn’t realise in time I had to take a weeks worth of expired pill (expired by about 3 weeks or so)
Now I know when medication is stored properly it shouldn’t affect its efficacy, specially by 3 weeks? No? Anywho I’ve been and explained the situation to the nurse and have been given a new year long supply and have been taking the new, in-date pill for a week. I’ve been super careful with my partner and such (I do want a little one, just not yet..) but for the last 4 or so days I’ve been having typical hormonal symptoms (horrid acne on my hair and jawline, very sore breasts, the dropsies, etc..)
My paranoid self took two tests two days apart, both came back negative, but I read there’s a chance you can take a test too early - but that’s also confuses me, how would that correlate to experiencing these symptoms? Surely if I was pg and that’s why I was symptomatic, the test would show?
Either that or I didn’t expect such a reaction to a pill being 3 weeks out of date.. or coincidentally landing on a bad hormone time which has happened before, just not this bad.
Apologies for the long read, I’m trying to not get anxious about it, and my sore chest is really bothering me (they feel like they’re always in the way!)
TIA
