Just some advice needed. I’m hypothyroid, got hashis and found out a couple of years ago that I had ckd2. I’ve never had blood pressure issues but since last Saturday I’ve had really high blood pressure. I’ve been checking it frequently on my machine and I’ve checked that it’s working properly, but I’ve been getting readings that are off the scale, the last one being 176/110. I called the doctors on Tuesday but they couldn’t make me an appointment until next Wednesday. It’s making me feel really quite rough but I’ve also noticed that I’m not weeing very often despite drinking plenty. I’m worried that this is caused by kidney issues. My question is this something that’s ok to wait until Wednesday or do I need to get some urgent help?
Many thanks.

Go to A&E. I was told just this week by a Dr. that 110 was the number at which we needed to be very concerned. Reached that Dr. through ringing 111. Also been told this week by a Nurse who is a friend that, if you hit 110 then you should go to A&E.
If you have been getting 110 on several readings, I should think seriously about A&E.
I went to our local minor injury unit yesterday but it was at least a 7hr wait so I decided to wait until today to call the doctor. I managed to get a call back from the doc this morning but I was really surprised that he was totally unconcerned over my high readings. He told me that it’s quite common for women as they get older to have elevated bp and wee less frequently. He’s told me to take my blood pressure every morning before I get up and after 7 days if they’ve all been high to call back and arrange blood tests. I’m quite concerned about going another 7 days with my blood pressure this high, my latest readings are 160/102 and that’s roughly where they’ve been all day and I’ve read that high blood pressure can cause kidney damage. I thought the least that would happen is they would want to see mefave to face, give me a check over and maybe give me a 24hr bp monitor. Any advice appreciated. Thankyou
I completely understand your concern. To be honest I really was expecting them to give you a 24 hour monitor. Blood pressure UK were really helpful for my mum a while back. They have health advisers, who are very knowledgeable. Give them a bell on 020 7882 6218. I hope they are more caring and supportive than your GP. Sadly I think our GPS are not as supportive as they used to be. Do update on how you get on. Take care x
I forgot to add an update but a few days after I came down with an awful kidney infection. Since that’s cleared up I’ve had no other issues with my blood pressure, all back to normal.
