Me and alcohol

Hi. I am a married successful lady with an adoring husband, Son and Grandson who has suddenly developed a liking for alcohol. Not sure why. Not unhappy just find the whole thing bizarre and worrying

What do you mean by liking? Do you mean you're enjoying an occasional drink or you can't get through an evening without a drink?

Hi DennisandDylan123,

This issue is a forever ending issue that runs through generations of my family. I've found after years of harassment of the person that there's always a reason and the person addicted knows why. There's an element of shame, it's their life, they'll do what they want, they'll do what makes them happy, etc that runs through it. Then what they see as 'clever' is being a functioning addict even when freedom such as loss of driver licence, loss of home are defining moments.

I think you need to be brutally honest with yourself, speak to a gp and ask for CBT to knock this issue on the head. I'm assuming (probably wrongly) that it's to do with your past, possibly bereavement. 🤔 Please help yourself before you lose what seems like many of us would hope to have...your life. All the best 😍 Please let us know how you get on .
