I’m going out for my birthday tonight and I’m hoping to have a couple of drinks but I know my limits and don’t drink much as it is. I have recently been told by my doctor that my thyroid is slightly overactive (hyperthyroidism) and this has been why I’ve been experiencing bad anxiety or heart palpitations.
do you think it’s okay to have some (in moderation) alcohol or not at all?
Any advice would be appreciated ❤️

Are you on anti thyroid meds ? personally I wouldn’t drink alcohol as it could increase your symptoms especially palpitations. I had hyperthyroidism for many years and now hypothyroid, I along with many thyroid patients find we can’t tolerate any alcohol.
There are so many non alcohol drinks now so plenty of alternatives.
oops just ordered a cocktail as I hadn’t had any replies. I’m not currently on any meds because atm she told me it’s just slightly over active. Even with a meal would you not recommend?
Even a small amount, if t's raised it can have a profound effect on many functions-I was overactive and developed the exothalamus-bulging eyes, but fortunately it was brought under control in 18 months as my doctor was on the ball, and my eyes returned to normal, but my sister didn't and she had to have awful surgery on her eye sockets to help the eyes settle back in. Please don't dismiss this as a slight issue!
