Cholestrol after coming off HRT

Has anyone who came off HRT noted notable increases in cholestrol and, if so, did it subsequently fall once the body becomes used to its new female hormone level?

My 64-yr old mum's cholestrol has risen since she came off HRT to a serum total now 7.4mmol/l (0-5) or 286mg/dl. Im aware of other (possibly related), potential causes eg thyroid and kidney disease (which she has and now has 1 kidney).

We are trying to keep at bay medics just wanting her to take statins and ignoring our request for further investigations re causes such as those above.

Many thanks.
