I am confused by the nurse

The nurse done two lots of swabs . Showed me the speculum and it was covered in white discharge as they did not think it was thrush thinks it is hormonal . That is what has confused me the hormonal bit . The nurse was asking period like question had to answer with PCOS . Thrush the nurse said first time I heard you are meant to treat your Partner as well?
