I just had a hysterectomy for adenocarcinoma endometrial type. I lived with post menopausal bleeding and let fear get in the way of my diagnosis for 4 years prior to surgery. The CT scan prior to surgery showed no spread beyond the uterus but the pathology report of the uterine lymph nodes had some incidental positive results (1 in 4.) They now want me to have full blown chemo and radiation. I had a poor telemed visit with the chemo referral who couldn't answer any questions about success rates or choice of drugs. He focused on the horrible side effects. His only stat was that without treatment my chances were 1 in 2 and with treatment 1 in 3. Those figures were unsupported. I asked how he would know if I was over treated and he admitted he didn't know. He made me feel suicidal. I complained to the surgeon but he defended his pick. The RT referral hasn't communicated yet. I feel I need more info but don't know how to get it. Can anyone share a similar story?

🤔 I had an existing progressive condition when I had to have surgery-chemo- radiotherapy for grade 3 breast cancer. The chemo had a component in it known to have an adverse effect on my condition, and when I complained of symptoms becoming worse, my Oncologist omitted the component from the mix. The chemo was 6 sessions, after 5 sessions my Oncologist said I could discontinue as there was no real evidence a further session would actually make any difference 😯 I would have called it a day had it not been from pressure from my husband..his mother had died following breast cancer..
Thank you so much for sharing, but if you please, how did you learn about the known adverse effect of the drug and what basis did they have for using it? Weren't you concerned about the imprecise number of sessions sessions? How was the RT - was it coordinated with the chemo? Most importantly, how are you now?
🤔 My Oncologist knew of my pre-existing condition, after I reported feeling excessively worse Neurologically, he then said one of the components was known to potentially have that effect. This was 5 yrs ago, I ‘m sorry I don’t recall what it was. The chemo prescribed was for grade 3 breast cancer. I didn’t find out about the ‘doubt’ between 5 and 6 until I’d had the 5th session. It did worry me, but to be honest and not to belittle cancer, I have more concerns over my pre-existing condition. My final mammogram after treatment was clear, and I’m now 5yrs further on. The R-T followed on from chemo, although it had to be put back because I’d been unwell, and the only problem I recall was having to lie flat, it causes me to have vertigo.
🤞I’m ok. It did take me quite a long time to ‘pull myself together’..but I attribute that to my main condition.
