I did it without protection and the condom came off, I'll take a levornogestrel pill, but I'm worried because I already took one in January of this year and another in August of last year, can you give me any recommendations? I suffer a little from anxiety and I have clinically confirmed depression

EllaOne and Levonelle (or Levonorgestrel) are two popular morning after pill’s here in the U.K.

EllaOne can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex, and Levonelle within 3 days of unprotected sex. The effectiveness of Levonelle drops the longer you wait to take it therefore, it is important to take the morning after pill as soon as possible when you get it.

Both tablets can be used more than once in one cycle, so I wouldn’t worry about having already taken one in January. This will not reduce the effectiveness of taking the morning after pill now and it should still do the same job in protecting you from getting pregnant.

If you vomit or have a bad case of diarrhoea within 2 hours of taking the pill, you will need to take another one.

Also keep in mind that taking plan B may delay your period.

I hope that helps and you are able to feel less anxious after taking it.

Hello, it was Levonelle, at night, around 3 am, I woke up with very intense pain, I felt too much pain, it was already getting better, but it was one of the strongest pains I have ever felt, stronger or equal to the pain of a cyst Could you give me recommendations please? I don't know if it will be repeated or not.

Apologies. I thought you were looking for advice on how effective the pill was and the types available.

Period like cramping is a common side effect of Levonelle or Plan B. Please have a look at the listed side effects below. I wouldn’t be too alarmed unless it has happened before, or the pain is still there. If the pain is still there or you have experienced this every time you take Plan B, then it is worth talking to your GP about a longer term, more permanent form of contraception.

If you are worried that something more sinister is going on, the GP can refer you for scans of the abdomen and womb to rule out cysts.

Hello, thank you for your answers, yes I have a cyst :(, and I even suspected that I had another one but I did not get checked by a doctor, my family is a doctor and I am a little afraid that they will find out, other times I have taken levonelle , but it never hurt me so badly, right now it calmed the pain and when it hurt it was not accompanied by fever or vomiting or anything, yes, hours before it gave me chills and I wanted to vomit but I didn't.

And yes, I had the urge to go to the bathroom, but it wasn't an extreme case and I would think it was after the two hours you mentioned.

Oh I’m sorry to hear that. What is your diagnosis? Is it something along the lines of endometriosis or PCOS?

Sometimes the regular birth control pill is prescribed to women as it can help prevent cysts from forming and help with symptoms. Have you looked into this as a possible option?

I would speak to a doctor if the pain was not your “usual” type of pain as it is important to rule out whether another cyst is present, or whether the current one has changed in size which is causing you pain. I appreciate it can cause worry but any new symptoms should be followed up with a medical professional.

Hi🙂 I did reply earlier…only to suggest that..if possible you consider contraception yourself..but thought better of it…and deleted it.

🤔You need to weigh up…is it wise to continue suffering these symptoms in silence, you could end up being treated as an emergency. The ‘morning after pill’ is generally well tolerated by most people, it’s unlikely it has caused your current symptoms. If that is why you’re reluctant to discuss the pain..put that thought out of your mind…you need peace of of mind about current symptoms.

Not what you're looking for?
