I'm new on this chat, does anyone know what happens if you don't get a pessary changed after six months for prolapse treatment? I'm starting to get a lot of discomfort and haven't got an appointment for the clinic?

🤔 How often should my pessary be changed?

Your ring or gellhorn pessary will be changed and replaced every 4-6 months. You will receive an appointment to come back and see your doctor or specialist nurse. They will remove the pessary and check for any problems, such as bleeding, ulcers or infection in the vagina, before replacing it with another one.

Your GP may be able to change your pessary. If they are unable to do this, it will need to be replaced in hospital.

🙂 Contact the clinic/doctor who fitted it for advice.

I was seeking advice because of the delay caused by the corona virus and no outpatients clinics.

🤔 Many Clinics have been cancelled, and hopefully patients are kept informed of future arrangements. But, if you have no way of contacting your clinic, contact your GP for advice.
