Contraceptive and period advice

Hi all!

I have been on the implant for a year and a half now, and all of a sudden I am getting very heavy and regular periods, after basically having nothing. The cramps are pretty bad, and I kind of feel like I am 13 again dealing with messing the bed, and spots on the back of my pants.

I just want to know if this is normal to go from almost no periods (just a light bleed every 3 months or so) to regular and heavy bleeding now?
