Hi I’m Bex a salon owner and I have rheumatoid arthritis, 6 months ago I started a healthy keto diet, I lost 3 and a half stone and am now in remission,
I just wondered what other people’s experiences with change of diet were if any

🙂 I tried that diet myself years ago, but I found it very challenging, I’d been diagnosed with Epilepsy. Several people I know manage their symptoms with Gluten Ataxia by sticking rigidly to a Gluten Free Diet.
I started seeing a nutritionist, because I had a lot of health issues going on. Turned out I had an autoimmune thyroid disease, so i've done a lot of reading into auto-immune diseases since then.
There is a strong theory that auto-immune disease starts with the gut. Something causes us to develop a leaky gut, and we then develop food intolerances, and eating that food triggers the auto-immune disease.
A lot of people (myself included) find that an auto-immune Paleo diet really helps with the symptoms, as it cuts out most of the common food allergens that trigger the auto-immune disease, and that's also why I think keto works (because it forces you to cut out your food intolerances). How have you gotten on with returning foods to your diet? Did you notice any symptoms come back?
Hi thanks for your input, tbh I’m pretty strict with it still I avoid sugar and refined carbs, if I’ve had the odd thing I notice, I also do intermittent fasting which I believe from my research can reset the immune system, it’s truly changed my life
I think you should try reintroducing a few foods. Bring in one thing at a time, and wait 3 days to see if you get any symptoms. At least that way you'll know what you can eat if you go out for a meal
I couldn't manage the diet as I'm a vegetarian and it was to challenging for me. I do however now and then....when my brain is in the right frame of mind do 7 day water fasts which puts me into a ketosis state, I have to say my fibromyalgia pain decreases, I even feel like I have more energy. I find the first 2 days difficult but once in ketosis I feel so much better.
Jo
I eat lots of veggies 😊
Yes you will feel better as you start burning fat fuel instead of sugar fuel and the body much prefers this.
