I’m a 15 year old girl who’s friend just killed herself a little over a month ago. I’ve been struggling with depression for years and I have always felt alone. Is there anybody who could talk to me?

Hi Hun

Have you spoke to anyone like a counsellor at School?

I'm so very sorry for your loss! What a terrible thing for you to experience at such a young age. First, part of what you're feeling is survivors' guilt, because you "didn't see it coming...why didn't I know?!" Well...there's no way you could have stopped your friend from this horrible act no matter what you said or did. Please get that straight in your mind. (I've been through several friends and an ex-husband and a cousin who have killed themselves..I know what I'm talking about.) Next, you need to get into some kind of counselling immediately. Talk to your parents about this..let them help you work through getting one. LEAN on your parents, friends, relatives, anyone who will just listen to what you have to say about this. Allow yourself time to grieve...take as long as it takes for you, OK? Know that you'll never get over this, but you will get through it and be able to go on with your life...please believe that! You're 15 and haven't even begun to experience your life in the future...you don't know what's around the next corner...there will be many wonderful things that happen to you...there will be many things that will make you sad...that's what life is all about. Please hang in there...I promise things will get better.

🙂 Guidelines for Healthunlocked Group stipulate that a person has to be 16yrs or older in order to be a member. Because of your age, it would be more appropriate for you to speak to a parent. If that isn’t possible, your family doctor is the best person to advise someone of your age about longterm depression. 🙂 xB

Please talk to your parents or a friend, teacher someone.....anyone. I have a 15 year old and I can understand that you’ve been through so much, but you do have value, you matter and a lot of people love you more than you may feel right now. Lifting your spirits may take a bit of time, but it starts with the first brave step. You don’t have to do this alone. ❤️❤️🤗
