Increasing breakouts/acne

In the past few days, I’ve noticed increasing breakouts - particularly on my forehead. It seems to be maybe 5x or maybe even 7x the amount I typically break out (I have acne prone skin). I also have been having an itchier scalp and a ton of dandruff when I give into itching.

Any ideas why this may be happening? Here are some things that have come to mind, although I’m not sure if any of them could be it:

The weather has been changing (transitioning to spring, and a bit of humidity - and some rain - in my area)

I’ve been eating a bit more, as I quit smoking a little over a month ago now, and also more sweets, it seems.

I switched my birth control pills (to one I was previously taking and liked overall) from using 2 other varieties the previous couple months.

I had been quite stressed for a few months, but I’ve been feeling a bit better now.

Update: I have noticed it seems much worse at night (perhaps after showering) and much better in the morning. At night it appears to be very red with quite a visible breakout of small pimples, while in the morning, discoloration is very minimal and the breakout not nearly as noticeable.

Have you talked to your doctor about the issue?

I have not, but I have been considering going to my dermatologist to see if they have any skincare recommendations.

Retinol and Differin may help you. Could be hormonal. Testosterone surge (women have them too). Tea tree oil will help your scalp. There are many shampoos and conditioners that contain it. Also, argan oil, Moroccan oil, coconut oil or olive oil can moisturize the scalp.
