Itchy hands...

Hi hope you're all doing ok. Just wondering does anyone else hear have really itchy hands? I already have trouble with sleep but they are keeping me awake now. I've seen the doctor but I don't seem to get anywhere. I have multiple different moisturizers as I've had problems most of my life with different skin conditions but this is only since I hit the menopause. It does seem to be an infection so I'm using tea tree oil at the moment which is helping somewhat but I just wondered if anybody else experienced the same thing and what they used? Steroid cream made it worse and I have an antibacterial/fungal and steroid cream (Timodene) which doesn't help much either. I'm hoping there might be some more natural options and to hear of anyone else has the same problem. They are driving me mad! I can't bear another interrupted night. As you can see sometimes in my sleep I scratch them raw. I know the cause it's something to do with lower oestrogen affecting collagen levels and weakening the immune system. I also get folliculitis on a regular basis. Many thanks.

Hi Rach, that looks so sore!! That looks a bit like dermatitis! And if I were you I'd ask the doctor for some allergy tests! My mother in laws fingers used to go like that, they would crack and bleed, it turned out she was allergic to pork!! We eat so much food with additives, preservatives and goodness knows what else.i myself have psoriasis, I've had foliculitus too.i put tea tree oil in my bath, Back to my mother in law, she was having a hard time going through change at the time., not sure if this helps you but it's worth having some tests for allergies as everything else you've been given isn't helping x

Hey thanks that's good to know. I'm always sorry to hear when other people are going to the same thing but it is kinda nice to know that we're not on our own with it. So far the tea tree oil added into one of my prescription moisturizer is helping. I use cetraben what did your mum in law use or did she just avoid pork? The doctor told me to think back what I've been using the day before but not so much what I've been eating but I can't think of anything causing it and I keep a food diary anyway because of my other symptoms. Thanks for commenting though. You're right... I took that photo a couple of weeks ago and it was excruciatingly painful. The only thing that would help it was Vaseline. It stopped the itching a bit as well but you have to keep putting it on every half an hour or so.

She just avoided pork and eventually they got better. She had them bandaged up. I'm not sure what else she had applied but il find out. I wonder if antihistamines would help !! You could try them and see. They won't do you any harm. I've had the psoriasis for 40 years!! And often got foliculitus when I had a bad flare up. You learn to live with it, at least I did X

Ooooooo I like the suggestion of antihistamines as I haven't thought of that simple as it is. I'll keep a note of that thank you. Meantime the tea tree in my ointment seems to have helped a lot and I didn't scratch last night hallelujah!

I took antihistamine this am and itch gone, or lot reduced bless you thank you x
