I have been on HRT for 7 years (started at age 45) for hot flushing, nighttime sweats with insomnia and stress incontinence. I started on Premarin and it worked wonders on my menopause symptoms but I started to suffer bad migraines and it put my blood pressure through the roof. I was then started on Evorel sequi (eostrogen and progesterone) patches. it took a while to find the right combination and dose that dealt with the menopause symptoms and minimised any side effects. HRT saved my life, enabled me to continue to work and gave me quality of life. I shudder to think how things would have turned out had I not been given the option of HRT.

There is a very good menopause website that has a wealth of information and gives good information about the different types of HRT as well as alternative therapies. It also has a magazine that you can subscribe to and an online forum. menopausematters.co.uk

Thank you for your reply..for now I am just trying NDT to see if that helps but will look into this option as well. I have heard that the patches are better but the doctor didn't mention them..I guess they are more expensive? I will ask about them if I feel I need too so thank you for your advice..am pleased that you have been helped.
