This weekend I'm spending planning menus and food shopping ready to start losing weight with vengeance on Monday! I've tried WW (with some success -24lbs) but after my mum died I lost the motivation to carry on. Slowly the weight I had lost crept back on so my cousin and I tried SW. This did not work at all for me whereas my cousin lost oodles of weight! My issues are portions, exercise and snacking-they are all in the wrong quantities!
I tried calorie counting after watching the hairy bikers over Christmas and lost some weight (-8lbs in 3 weeks) but with birthdays and holidays it crept back on again. During the Easter hols (I'm a primary teacher) my boyfriend and I went to New York on a trip that I was supposed to do with my mum when she turned 60. He is now my fiancé after a surprise trip to Tiffany's and up the Empire State Building! I would like get married in a years time, given myself a target of 4 stone to lose, so it needs to be gone in plenty of time for dress shopping! Am I being too ambitious do you think?
So, all on board the weight loss train! Monday morning, back to work, healthy lunches and teas planned, I'm raring to go! And hoping the thought of a beautiful wedding dress will keep me spurred on! Wish me luck!

Congratulations on the engagement! I think a year is plenty of time to lose 4 stone as i have lost roughly that since last May.
It has been hard work, but well worth it, especially if you have to fit into a wedding dress..thats motivation for you!
For me portion control has been key and eating regularly throughout the day, so 3 main meals and 2 snacks to keep the munchies at bay!
Try and find an exercise you enjoy, i hated exercise with a passion but now miss it if i don't do it. I hate the gym, so exercise mainly at home, its just easier for me.
Good luck...don't give yourself a hard time if you slip, we all do, just get back on with it the next day.
Hi there I am doing the same, starting on Monday! I also have done WW and SW in the past and got the hairy bikers for Xmas and lost a few pounds but I havent been that focused. I am planning to do a mixture of healthy eating, giving up sugar (as I crave it when I am healthy eating) , I'm also thinking of doing 5:2 fasting. What are you planning? I need to lose 3-4 stone as well. So good luck to you too! ( and congrats re yr engagement - hopefully it will keep you focused!) we can do it for sure, after all we've done it before , just have to get in the zone...
A couple of girls at work have/are doing the 5:2 diet and with a lot of success, but for me, I don't feel it will truly help me to create good eating habits. I need something that I can follow and get into a routine with, with no room for error. A 5:2 would lead me to delay having the 2 days and having more 5 days!!
I'm really looking forward to Monday. I've downloaded a c25k app (although it involves running away from zombies!!) and now the nights are lighter, I'm going to plan days when I get for half an hours exercise before the tea gets put on, to make sure that exercise is happening!
So, bring it on I say! I look forward to hearing how well you do and sharing my ups (and hopefully not too many downs!)
Congratulations I've truly tried every diet, yep weight watchers worked best but got fed up of tracking and yeah slimming world bless them when that said eat as much I did lol but the one time I lost weight well was before my wedding, no slimming club just exercise and tracking food, its amazing what a wedding dress does for motivation and without that nothing works. Also my mate was told rather than just rely on scales and tape measure buy a cheap pair of jeans a size smaller to use as aid to visually seeing the weight come off, it's nice seeing them gradually fit over hips and the gap close over tummy and then you can do them up (mind you told her I have stuff I've got too big for that I can do that with lol) I'm sure you'll look stunning I love my photos oh and it took a few years and family losses that lead to comfort eating that put weight back on but I had learnt healthy eating over that year and pretty sure I'd kept it off if hadn't had such a tough period of time. Which is now firmly in past and I'm looking forward to a slimmer me so here's to us all being slimmer, fitter and healthier
Hi, I love logging onto the website and finding lovely stories such as yours, I hope you get everthing you wish for and I'm sure that if you "go for it" today you are certainly going to make a big dent in that 4st target.
I'm currently still dithering, I was going to go back to SW tomorrow but am thinking if I just get myself in the right mindset I can do it (WHAT IS STOPPING ME?)!!!!
Anyway, good luck for your first week, hopefully I will have something motivational to say to you next week if I can get my finger out. xx
Hi! Thanks for your lovely reply. Although everybody is completely different, i really do question SW in their motives/ways of losing weight. All the tools are provided in here, download the 12 week plan and you'll save yourself £6 each week!! Put the money in a savings jar or something and treat yourself to something nice when it reaches a certain amount. Im planning on putting £2 for every lb i lose into a pot for getting a shellac manicure! 1stone =beautiful nails!!
Motivation and wanting to are the biggest thing. If you dont want to, you wont! Simples! Good luck, and right back at you, i look forward to hearing how well you have gotten on in weeks to come xxx
