Unexplored territory 🌍🌏

Unexplored territory, where no man has gone before, well certainly not this man, not for a very long time. I've carried a lot of extra weight well enough for most of my life, I'm 6ft2 and it never presented any real issues.

It wasn't untiI I approached 40 that I started to develop signs of neuropathy, high blood pressure and diabetes. As I got older these issues made more of an impact so that it then became a medical imperative to take action.

Despite that bleak outlook it still took me several more years to actively do something about it.

Which brings me to this point- albeit glossing over the interim period. I say these truths so that I can state with reasonable certainty that my weight has reached a new low.

I used to say when I was in Hospital, and asked by Doctors "When was the last time you were this weight?" my comedic response was always "when I passed it on the way up" 😐

I don't know how I feel. Not really. I'm happy but for some reason I'm also cautious. I remain ever mindful of the need for vigilance and checking myself.

I am also careful not to get too wrapped up in the opportunities that present themselves once I cross the try line (to use a Rugby metaphor)

So it is pleasing and poignant in its achievement but a reminder I have so much more work to do.

So today, my diet and exercise plans won't change, nor tomorrow or the day after.

Rather, I will continue to brace myself for the journey that lies ahead and content myself in the knowledge that each weigh in from here, will bring with it new lower weight loss numbers and conversely, higher hopes for the future.

This as ever, as it's always been - continues to be a battle with myself. πŸ€”
