Hiya, only discovered this health unlocked group, I'm Kathy, always been over weight...in 2011 I decided that enough was enough and started dieting, in total I lost 6 stone, I was over the moon and for the first time ever I started to feel good about myself....but then I stopped dieting and started to put back on ( not the 6 stone ) a year later I started dieting again and lost more but this time was much lower.over the next 4 years it was like a tragic roundabout, putting on then loosing. I am constantly dieting and it's such a slow loss now... I feel so bad about myself at the moment, just want to start liking myself again X

Stuck in a rut :(
You have to forgive yourself and stop thinking about the past. Your body is marvelous however you or anyone else may label it. Don't diet. Instead give yourself the right kind of foods. Be good to yourself and move forward. We're all here for you x x you can do it x x
Hi and welcome Kathy
I was a yoyo dieter for over 40 years, before finally coming to my senses and realising that I needed to find a permanent solution to my unhealthy relationship with food and spiralling weight! This time it's for life!
Have a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen, (bottom if you're on a mobile) and read our Welcome Newbie post. It has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a great place to start. It doesn't give a specific diet plan, but gives guidelines for healthy eating.
Consider signing up for any, or all of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.
We also have a monday group weigh-in and if you click follow on my profile, you'll get a notification when I post it on monday. You can have a look at the latest thread in the events section, to the right of the home page.
Be active on the forum, as that's where we meet to exchange ideas and get our daily fix of inspiration and motivation
Wishing you all the very best
I've just written my first post and it's so similar to yours . Reading yours makes me think that we need to be kind to ourselves and see what we have achieved. Let's do this 😊 It's so hard when you get in a bad place with it but maybe we've come to the right place to beat this .
I know exactly how you feel!
I have previously lost weight and gained it back and lost it and gained it back with even more.
The advice I have seen from the very supportive people on here and from others that rather than a diet, you need to see it as a "Lifestyle change". A way of life. Not that you should always be on a diet, but to be sensible and yet have lots of variety all of the time. Not feeling guilty if you have a blow out weekend with friends and family , but then be sensible with healthy eating on the run up to and after it.
Once the weight is off, slacken a little but not totally... that way it should stay off.
That's my hope anyway!!!
Good luck on your journey, we're here with you every step of the way xxx
Thanks for the reply, I'm glad that I discovered this group, just got back from my holidays so I'm going to restart my healthy lifestyle X
I feel your pain.....I really do....others would be more qualified to answer/help. All I can offer is take on the advise you will receive as for me it always makes sense and it has been a huge help to me. I read this site whenever I 'can't do it myself and need support'. I do agree with you I like myself more when I have a disciple in my life and the knock on effect is weight loss. Good luck to you on your new journey.
Hi Kathy ,
We all go through times when we feel the same, time to start liking yourself day 1 has just begun.Good luck
I am new here aswell and feel the way you do. Never ending circle of dieting, feeling good, putting back on. I am now back at having 5 stone to lose. I don't like the word "diet" it even sounds restricting so I am on a lifestyle change challenge (also have to quit smoking after this challenge!) which I am determined to succeed with. Health wise it is now worrying me about the extra weight I am carrying. Good luck
