metformin tablets

I am so angry and upset. I've been taking round metformin tablets for 15 years. Now the tablet shape has been changed to oblong. The pharmacy says that 's all they can get. I can't swallow this shape for fear of it being stuck horizontally in my throat. Now I have to cut up the oblong tablets. They are hard tablets and I find this difficult with weak, arthritic wrists and fingers. And then I have four tablets to swallow instead of two. Why oh why are manufacturer's so thoughtless. Anyone know which brand has round metformin tablets?

Hello fiftyone,

Did you mean to post this question on the weight loss forum?

I'm afraid I know nothing about Metformin tablets, but could you have a word with your GP and ask them to specify round tablets on your prescription and if your current pharmacy can't supply them, maybe a different source would be preferable?

Good luck.

One of these will make it much easier. Your pharmacist may give you one if you ask. If not they should sell them and they are very cheap.

Good Morning, I am the opposite and I seem to get the round ones all the time now. But it means I can confirm mine are made by Brown & Burk. I know in my area, some meds are becoming harder to find as well, so this may be leading to a lack of choices.

Good Luck, and it cannot hurt to ask DR/Pharmacist to note your preference where possible.

The government is to blame for making big pharmaceutical companies to buy the cheapest brands from anywhere and usually the USA. This is because BREXIT has cut all paths to good medicine from Europe. :( You may have to shop around to get the brand you prefer. :(
