I’ve been overweight for most of my life. I was bullied because of it at school and have always felt out of place and self conscious. I have type two diabetes and hope that losing weight will help me. I want to lose 33 pounds. My aim is to achieve this by the end of June.

Try Weight Watchers. It works!
Hello and welcome to the forum, Steve2803
Are you new to Type 2 diabetes? Apologies if I'm telling you things you already know. Diabetes is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism, so that's what you need to tackle to keep your blood sugars down. Fortunately, it is reversible so, if you make the changes you need, you'll see your health improving - and you'll lose weight along the way!
This is a simple guide from Dr David Unwin who has had great success helping his patients reverse T2D. As you'll see, it's very mainstream food, and can be adapted to your tastes dietdoctor.com/wp-content/u...
We have lots of activities to help you on your way: you might like to start with the weekly weigh-in (it's about to change for the new week so maybe wait until tomorrow morning) and the daily diary, where members share their meal plans. Also, a Ditch The Sugar challenge is starting on Tuesday, hosted by Hopalong1 - you might like to join in there, too.
You'll find everything I've mentioned by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... Scroll down so you see everything on offer.
Here's to a positive 2024

Good luck Steve I know you can do it 👍
Unless you really need support from a club like Weightwatchers and are willing to shell out regular fees I would seek out all free advice - maybe see your GP who will have access to all your medical notes . Distraction is what I found helped . I joined a walking group who don't care what you weigh but the regulars seem to manage their weight by walking . Food doesn't have to be restricted punishment but 33 pounds could be a big ask in 5 months so I wouldn't have goals which could be quite pressurised but cherish every - say 3lb you achieve . I am 63 and I find I need food and exercise combined to really make a difference . Libraries are a good source of info so a good walk there , carrying weighty books back filled with glossy pictures of encouraging recipes and also look on here as many have posted dishes which you wouldn't think could be tweaked to make healthier food . Snacks also add up . Ditch those and maybe stop eating after 7pm . It isn't dieting which will shed the weight - it's a healthier lifestyle and eating routine .
Hi Steve, best of luck on your journey! Surrounding yourself by like minded people gives you both support and accountability.
I know how hard it can be carrying the scars of being bullied, even if it was many years ago... Looking forward to see your progress!!!
Hi Steve, good luck on the journey, and enjoy the support you will receive here. I can only offer empathy not advice as I have put on so much weight over Christmas that I am in the doldrums and planning on wiring my jaws together if anything beige (potatoes, rice, pasta, bread) even look in my direction!
Be well!!
