Starting out on my weight loss journey. My biggest area of concern is the amount I eat in snacks after evening meal before bed. I think if I can stop this I will lose weight. But the thought of tonight not eating crisps and chocolate is making me feel sad and anxious!

There are two possible reasons we eat between meals (which is how I think of snacks): either we're hungry or it's a habit. It's well worth taking time to untangle what it is that means you're looking for food after you've had a meal, then you'll know how to tackle it.
You should find plenty of inspiring meals here on the forum. The Daily Diary would be a good starting point, and Springers Specials. You'll find them and all our other activities by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l...
Good luck
Im exactly the same - I try to wait for 30 minutes to give my dinner time to go down and my brain to get the message that im full and if I still want something then i'll have some dark chocolate or some salted cashew nuts - I also find drinking a big glass of water helps and distracting myself with something. Much easier said than done but I think if you can get into the habit of this it gets easier!
Hi, yes im trying - currently have issues with my thyroid - am hyperthyroid at the moment and I find that really affects my eating habits but am trying to lose some weight anyway!
I see you're involved with the Thyroid UK forum and that's your best starting point. There are some very knowledgeable members there who can help you ask the right questions so you are appropriately medicated.
Here on Weight Loss Support, we have various activities to help you along the way including the daily diary (where members post their meal and exercise plans for the day), the weigh in (choose your day and post each week), Fit is Fun (chatting about exercise/activity) and much more. Take a look at them all here healthunlocked.com/weight-l...

Did your doctor say that they want you to have a snack before bedtime each night? What do you have for dinner? If you have items with some protein and low carb., it may help you feel full longer for the night hours.😀👍
I'm a night binge eater. Every night is just really hard work. Some nights i manage to just sit with those feelings until they pSs, as they will, and some nights I don't. It's hard work. All the very best to you
Hello, I have exactly the same problem. I am trying to limit the amount I eat by putting a couple of pieces of dark chocolate and one boiled sweet in a little pot and trying to make them last for the evening. It's definitely a habit and we must try to break the habit. Try to remember why you want to lose the weight in the first place which may help. Good luck. Please tell how you are getting on and any ideas you have to help.
