I have gained a lot of weight round the waist and it’s now causing me problems, I’ve become lethargic and don’t want to do anything, I play golf but with the bad weather and the effects of lock down lve played twice this year, l’m always tired and sleep a lot.

Any suggestions?

Hi Par36 Welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads.

Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.

Here’s the link to the pinned posts,

I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in. You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.

We also have a Fit is Fun club where members share their weeks activities. I also find it difficult to keep moving when the weather is bad, walking just isn't enjoyable in the freezing cold. I've started an indoor fitness program which is definitely better than nothing. You'll find all our activities by clicking on the above link, that takes you to the pinned posts, from there just scroll down until you find something that interests you.

Good luck I hope to "see " you around.

Hi Par36

You mentioned sleeping a lot and I just wondered if you have seen your GP about that? My OH - also a golf player - was recently referred by his GP to a sleep clinic for a sleeping disorder where he stops breathing in the night which means he doesnt get a good nights sleep. It can be related to weight - bigger guys like weight lifters - where the weight presses on their chest when lying in bed.

The most obvious thing to do first is to supplemsnt vitamin D3 which is mostly made is the skin when it's exposed to sunlight. I take 8,000 iu daily in winter. Gaining weight is mostly about the foods that you're eating. Keep your carb intake down and avoid foods made with white flour or refined sugar. Also if the weight is in the tummy area it's probably due to refined seed oils. youtu.be/VXuAmLR_v9M
