Hovering weight!

Hi, I posted about two months ago following a miscarriage. My weight seems to be hovering at 74.5kg. I eat 1400 to 1800 cals a day and walk around 700 to 800 calories off too. Should I reduce what I'm eating to 1200 cals? I would like to get to 73kg by Christmas...do you think this is possible? At 73kg , I will no longer be obese so a huge milestone for me. I currently have 2 teas a day but struggle with my sleep....fall asleep but wide awaje at 2.30am.

Also , I'm on a phased return to work. I will be speaking to OH and I'm unsure whether to be truthful because I can't afford to reduce my hours and full company sick pay ends next month. I seem to suffer from anxiety....maybe post in another chat. Should I just quit the caffeine to see if this helps?

Aside from husband I do not have family around so appreciate your thoughts

Also, how much water do you get through realisticaly a day in this cold weather...i only managed 2 litres but struggled with last glass. I much prefer room temp or warm water but also add in a bit of salt ( I am using the snakejuice sachets)

Happy 1st Dec by the way!

Good morning, anu75.

Yes, I think it's possible to lose that 1.5kgs by Christmas, and moving out of the obese category is a milestone for us all. My suggestion would be to concentrate on what you're eating: by all means keep up the exercise/activity level but don't think of it in terms of working off calories, but as something that has value in itself.

With regard to water, the 2 litres figure is much misunderstood. Here's a good explanation. mcgill.ca/oss/article/healt... I like this quote from the article: Suffice it to say that by eating regular food and having coffee, juice or what have you, you will end up consuming 2 litres of water without having to go seek it out specifically. If you find yourself in a water deficit, your body has a very simple mechanism for letting you know. Put simply, you will get thirsty.

I'm sure it is an anxious time for you as you make decisions about work and your miscarriage is so recent. Poor sleep disturbs the cortisol hormone and that interferes with weight loss. Yes, reducing caffeine is likely to help, if you're having a lot: maybe have a cut-off point around midday/mid afternoon with no coffee after that point.

Apart from all that, I recommend joining a weekly weigh in and making forum friends there. The Wednesday Wobble Warriors are a great team and Greendream123 who is hosting today will make you very welcome. If you get into the habit of coming here regularly, you'll be able to make use of all the support and ideas around the forum :)

Thank you for reply and information. I think thats intetesting about the water. I had soup, carrotts and teas , plus watery dahl, yesterday which I did not calculate in my daily tally. I'm not sure if ready to join a group but I will take a look....love the name, I certainly still do wobble, although I definetely feel firmer compared to a few months ago. Yes I'm dreading the referal as I don't really want councelling, what helps me the most is getting out at least twice a day for 45 mins just to walk and I listen to music or meditation. I felt so tierd this morning, but I have had one tea so will stop now. One thing that brings comfort and keeps me full is milk with black and green cardamon with a teaspoon of ghee and ghur (natural sugar) with ground nuts, so having this and try to stick to 1200 plus the walking. In march i was doing couch to 5k but now for me I want to do something I like and is repeatable. Thanks do much. I am defo eaiting until the advent calandars go half price then buying one. Kids opened theres this morning...have a great day x
