Hi

I’ve joined in the hope of getting support to lose a substantial amount of weight.

Having battled with my weight from a very young age it’s going to be hard to do

Over the years I’ve tried about every diet going then after losing some weight revert back to my old eating habits of missing out on meals

This tells me the next thing you try should not be a diet, but a way of life that you can maintain. Skipping meals is not such a bad thing, as it's made out to be. Of course, this counts only if you really don't eat anything :) many people benefit a lot from intermittent fasting, myself included. All the things I tried before were based on various statements what I should be doing. Things like making sure to eat breakfast, making sure not to eat too much, making sure not to skip meals - all of those turned out to be counterproductive for me. Wishing you luck in finding what sustainable changes work for you! :)

Hello Beatrix and nice to meet you. I see you have a fatty liver. I have just been diagnosed with this and it’s an alarming wake up call for me. I am trying very hard to lose weight through diet and exercise. I see you try to lose weight by missing meals. This doesn’t work for me because I get really hungry and raid the cupboard for a ‘quick fix’ - chocolate biscuits which my husband insists on buying! I joined this group several years ago and got down to my ideal weight so stopped ‘visiting’. The ‘quick fixes’ soon became a regular part of my diet and the weight piled on again. So, here I am, struggling to get rid of the damage those quick fixes caused! Good luck!

Like you,it was a wake up call. Not getting any younger and need to put all my efforts into this.

I’m just so used to missing meals out, subconsciously thinking if I don’t eat I can’t put on weight, but obviously that’s not the right thing to do.

When I’ve eaten a substantial amount of food per day I’ve always lost weight.

I think it stems back to when I was a child and a dr said to me that I stuffed my face, when in fact I ate the same as my four siblings and I was the only one overweight .

Good luck to us!
