Keep being unsuccessful at the start

Since lockdown have gained about another stone. Have been having a new day everyday for what seems like ages. My mindset is just all over the place. I need to loose I want too loose, but I just keep binging during the day. I have no energy and have a just can not be bothered attitude, and that is not a good combination.

Hello it’s hard to get started. It might be easier to focus on just one thing. For example a healthy breakfast every day this week, and perhaps 1x 30minute calorie burning spring clean / tidy up of your kitchen cupboards (assuming you can’t go outside for a walk). Next week try one more thing, like no snacks between breakfast and lunch, and build up your success that way?

Hello Zeenasteven2017 :)

In my experience, this is a great place for information and support. It has helped me move from being obese to a healthy weight and I've learned so much along the way, while making many online friends.

That happened because I got into the habit of coming here frequently, joining in with a weekly weigh in, using the Daily Diary to help with meal planning and generally reading posts, joining in conversations and encouraging others. It made me feel part of a supportive community that I could learn from and contribute to. Could you do that? Is it worth your while to invest a few minutes several times a week, even daily, in order to turn things round?

When you first came here 7 months ago, you posted once on the Wednesday Wobblers weigh in. They're a great bunch and would give you a warm welcome if you re-join tomorrow. But do think of making it a regular commitment, for the mutual benefit of you and the team.

Finally, have a look back at your previous posts and the replies you received. Click on your avatar, select Profile and they're all there. Have a look at how you approached this in the past and decide on what you will do differently this time.

All the best

That is what happened to me but I haven't given up and thus time in organising my meals a week at a time it won't be easy but it's always worth trying again. I wish you luck.

Thank you so so much for all your replies. I really am my own worst enemy, I have a lot of stress at university, having to do most of my studies online, needing to work in my local trust on top of that. But I need to realise, that I qualify in less than 7 months. And thank you so much BridgeGirl who advised me and shown me too look at my previous post.

I know that feeling. I havent lost weight since starting the challenge and have had a few health issues but I have stayed the same which is a result for me. I tried to concentrate on making other changes in my life which were in my control rather than focusing on food. Knitting has been my saviour and helps me relax in the evenings, stops me thinking about snacks and provides me with a supply of socks, scarves and hats. Is there something you used to enjoy doing that you could re-connect with?

No it's not but we've all been there. I'm up to my umpteenth new start this year. I'm sick of eating well bingeing then hating myself. I've started a journal and it's pretty sad how I sabotage myself. So last Friday I seemed to turn a corner and have managed to get back some control. It helps that nothings out of limit just need to control how much I have. I'm walking and even if the weather's bad there's some good you tube videos to walk in the house too. You can do this because you're so worth it!

You lot are just thee best. Makes me feel like I am not alone in self sabotaging then hating myself for it.

Hi Zeenasteven2017 , I recognise what you have described. It's so hard to get motivated, especially right now when things are tough. I'm also studying - I spend most days sitting on my computer doing online learning which is quite miserable! The advice I would give to you(& myself) is to be kind to yourself and don't expect the change to kick in over night. Someone has already suggested and I agree - choose one small thing and start there.

For example, change to wholemeal grains. Then feel good about that change and go for something else. Like a really healthy breakfast every day (but make sure it is properly filling). One other bit of advice is never to let yourself get too hungry. Have lots of snacks that are healthy in the house or prepare stuff like carrots and houmous because if you're hungry you might just go for the bad stuff!

One thing at a time. So give yourself a pat on the back if you've done it, even if the rest of your day's food has not been ideal. Soon the things you crave will change and it will get easier.

Good luck! x

Thank you so much. Yes this sitting online day in day out isn’t good, I find myself not bothering to get dressed. Then I find myself feeling very lazy. I definitely need to get more routine. Thank you for your hints and tips 😀

Yes I totally agree routine is so important! For your mental health as well. Might be good to have a wake up time, shower and get dressed every day then have breakfast before you start the day. I know when I slob around all day I feel like rubbish and then I eat badly 🤦‍♀️

Welcome to the forum, Gizmo1972 :)

Take a read through the replies above and see if there's anything that rings a bell for you.

My top tip would be to come to the forum daily and join in the activities on offer, particularly a weekly weigh in and the daily diary. You'll find everything you need by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... to Pinned Posts.

If you haven't already taken a tour of the forum, you'll find it here healthunlocked.com/?tour=true
