I have not wrote a post for a long time my struggle with my weight goes on, I need both knees replaced but my mobility is so poor dieting is just a struggle to loose any weight I need less than a 1000 calories a day more like 800.. So after yo-yo ing & loosing only few pounds my son persuaded me to try the 1 to 1 diet, not a first choice but being at home all day it is hard to keep with in such a small calorie in take.. I know it has to be maintained but when I couldn’t even book with my consultant I was deverstated. My gp tried my local hospital & a consultant agreed to see me, I was on the 1 to 1 diet for 10 weeks & lost 18lbs down to 42.7 BMI..sadly my height has reduced so BMI increases, but the consultant has put me on the list , I see him in April I must stay the same or loose more to stay on..The diet is expensive but we don’t eat out now etc..I have had a 2 week break & stayed same so now going back on to loose another 18 before April fingers crossed. Happy New Year..

That's good news that you are on the list Parisjun. Your daily recommended calories surprised me ,is that what the consultant advised? It is good your son and GP are suppporting you in your determination to get better health and movement. Do keep coming on here, try coming on each days Daily Diary page, Im sure the support and encouragement on here and your sharing your experience would help you keep going. Do think about it and all the very best to you

The consultant said my inability to walk or stand for long means to loose weight can only be to cut calories, he said he was fascinated with 1to1 diet, I know & he know it is drastic but you go up steps so I do have small meal a day, my son has crohns & his consultant has told him there is no inflammation in his bowel since the weight loss.( he has lost 3 stone )I feel very ‘energetic’ on it as it contains all the nutrients in so little calories, but I am doing it slowly ..

You don't need to write a post to be part of the forum, Parisjun. In fact, many of the most active members never write a post. They join in activities, reply to posts and get involved with other members. That can be a real boost and I recommend it.

I am also surprised at your very low calorie allowance. I've no idea what the 1 to 1 diet is. I hope you are being monitored on such a low intake

1to1 diet is the old Cambridge meal replacement, shakes soups, calorie counted meals, I have 3 products & a 200 calorie meal I make my self..As I said not my first choice but it allows me to not have to think about food during the long days & I can have my omelette or chicken etc with my hubby in evening. It is low carb ..

Oh, it sounds very restrictive. You have my sympathy. Why don't they let you just eat real food instead of that processed stuff?

I normally only cook from scratch but I find it hard all day trying to keep my intake under 1000 calories. It is my choice to speed my weight loss , It just take any stress away, so whilst on own I have pre counted porridge / shake for breakfast, soup for lunch,& a bar/snack half mid afternoon & half in evening. Then a 200 calorie meal home made in evening. That suits me & of course 2.5 litre of water/ tea coffee etc. There are all combinations depends of what suits you. believe you I will be back on SW as soon as I can.

Hi Parisjun, welcome back. I'm sorry to hear you're having to fight such a battle.

As has been already mentioned try joining in with the Daily Diary it's not just about sharing menus it's a good place to"meet" other members.

I wish you all the best.

I wish you well and hope you achieve the result you want although I could never contemplate such a restrictive diet. I found that eating too little was counterproductive and only when I upped my intake did I start to lose weight steadily. 😊

I do have weekend treats in a responsible way..My nutrition (NHS). Recommended 1000c for 3 days 1200 for 4 days & 1500 for week then start again.. it works just I am useless in being accurate, that extra piece of cheese or slice of bread or spread.. This way makes me comply for short time..then I can step up to return to SW..It's my choice ,not doctors ,but I believe they are trailing the diet for new type 2 diabetes patients or those who are borderline. I will let you know how I get on..x

It sounds like you have had a real struggle with your weight and your health in general. But that being said, haven't you done so well to lose 18lbs, you should feel proud that you have achieved your first goal, to get on that list. Keep going for the sake of your health and celebrate your achievements along the way. You deserve a better way of life but only you can make it happen...... With help and support of course!!! GOOD LUCK.

You could, if practical, remove as much sugar from your diet as possible, and you might also refrain from as many dairy products as possible. If successful should see some progress in about 6 weeks.

I don’t have sweet tooth & cook from scratch, I don’t have lot of dairy cheese was my down fall with bread & potatoes so almost cut them out , but still was’t loosing much very quickly. This is a quick fix & I will only be on it to get to goal BMI then I can resume slow losses . I don’t crave carbs now..
