I can understand you worrying about your son gaining weight. I'm taggingHidden as he has managed to help his 9 year old son lose weight. I'm sure he will be able to help you.

Was your son active before? If so then it’s likely he will lose weight when he gets back to school. Many children have snacked more and moved less in lockdown and led to weight gain. Restrictive diets are difficult for children who are growing still and can put them on an uncomfortable path with food.

I would encourage him to get out more (cycling or walking/running listening to music, football at the park) and reduce snacking opportunities. This is an unprecedented time of stress for children and worrying about his weight shouldn’t be on top of that for him.

Best of luck.

Hi 24212,

I'm sorry to hear you're worried about your son's health. It's great to read all the messages of support here. I think the idea of getting outside for a family walk could be an idea. You could try asking him to start with 10 minutes around the block! This could give you a helpful time to chat without screens!! It's good for stess-reduction.

What do you think you could do to help your son?

Take care!

My son active boy before lockdown

We go swimming football twice a week

He play table tennis in school

Taekwondo twice we don't stop

In summer we go to park spend all time therehe play football with friends

As food he likes fruits not in to veg

We have snack at home because my young son under weight and fuss eater who diagnosed with Crohn disease recently which put my in middle of dilemma

When we don't have snack at home my young son lack choices

I can't allowed one of them biscuit and not other one end a day they all kids

I don't want my older son feel body shame or guilty if I talk about his weight all time. One day someone family talk about his weight in his face and he hate him for that and he ask me "am i over weight"and I say you perfect to me

He happy boy I don't want him to feel bad about him self .
