Hi and welcome, Duckshape :)

If you have a look at this, it's endorsed by Dr Aseem Malhotra, a British cardiologist phcuk.org/wp-content/upload... and this is a simplified visual for it healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

You'll see that they DON'T advise low fat, but rather low carb.

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

Thankyou it’s a good start, as I go to supermarket and all I see is bad food.

Shopping will take you much less time now, because you'll be able to ignore most of the aisles. All you'll need are meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, healthy fats and full fat dairy. Simples! :)

Think I need to start looking for good recipes and can we eat low fat steak mince or is it a bad food.

You don't want to go for anything that's labelled low fat, choose the best that you can afford. Steak mince is a fabulous food and so versatile, it can be made into all sorts of things. I have a couple of recipes on my profile, but you'll find many more in Topics and the daily diary will give you new ideas every day :)

My go to for protein is chicken and salmon both of which I really like. Salmon is so easy to cook, and to me it is food of the Gods! Just wrap it very loosely in foil, leave a little gap for steam to escape, and place on a baking tray in the oven for 15-20 mins. You can have it hot or cold, delicious either way! I see it as a treat I can enjoy on a diet, and don't mind if it's expensive because I can spend my old biscuit and cake budget on it!!

And chicken is super versatile. I buy either breast or thigh fillets which you can slice or cube and add to a pan of veggies, or a stir fry.

Wishing you well with your healthy eating! All the best! :-)
