Newbee: I am nearly 52 and not very fit... - Weight Loss Support
Newbee
Hello karenron195667 and welcome to the forum 😊
I think that's a very reasonable timescale.
You will find plenty of recipes here under Topics and there is a Daily Diary where we log our meal plans for the following day: you could have a browse and join in when you're ready.
This Welcome Newbies post explains how the forum works and will help you find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Please take your time reading it so you get the best out of your time here.
You'll find a list of all the forum activities on our daily chat thread here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
A good way to start would be joining today’s weigh in team. You'll get to know a very supportive bunch of people who will appreciate your support, too. Click on this link and read the opening post which will explain all healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
We also ask that you read this information about internet privacy and security healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I see your post isn't locked. This means that it, and any replies, can be shared around the Internet without your knowledge or consent (see the Twitter and Facebook logos below your post). Often that won't matter to you but sometimes people discuss personal stuff or accidentally disclose something that might identify them so we think it's a good extra level of security to lock your posts.
Take your time exploring and come back with any questions.
Wishing you all the best and I hope you become an active and supportive member of the forum 😊
Sorry, I should have given you this link which explains why it becomes harder to lose weight as we grow older. It may suggest a new approach for you healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Wow thank you , gosh that makes you re think eveything you think you know ?????
We have been given very misleading information for a long time, I think
I watched the truth about diet and exercise the other night and I gleemed from that that fat is no longer the enemy ??
That's right. Fat doesn't make you fat! Great news
I'll give you a couple of things to read if you want. They're a bit lengthy but they are readable and you can take your time over them.

I've heard that Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall is back with a programme on Thursday. He talks sense, too. I'll check it out and do a post about it during the week
Thanks il watch out for that ! Been recording every diet programme thats been on this year, just need some time to sit down and watch them (more inspiration)
There was a good interview on Sky News this morning with MP Tom Watson who's lost a huge amount of weight and is a passionate advocate of the low carn high fat approach, followed by Prof Tim Spector who runs the British Gut Project - you can look it up, fascinating work on the importance of health guts to our physical and mental wellbeing.
Dont have sky so didnt hear that but will google it
I don't pay for it (don't pay for anything I can avoid), it's Freeview channel 233
Free sounds good to me ! I didnt know that was there? Talk about informative, you learn loads on here !!
I'll tell you something else I found out about here. Maybe you know it. FutureLearn. Free online courses lasting four weeks on all sorts of things - arts, sciences, health, languages .....
Oh no never heard of that either ? Have a lead a sheltered life ? Im 52 and this is the first forum ive ever been on , its class !! Cant get my housework done for reading it , was nearly late for work the other day cos I couldnt put it down lol
Hi there, sounds like we are similar ages with a similar goal. I’ve measured myself today ready to start. I haven’t looked a 12 week plan yet. Does it look good?
How do.you do the ,12 week plan
Hi Karen, go back to the newbie welcome that BridgeGirl gave you and read it thoroughly. You will find a link to the 12 week plan. It is self explanatory when you get there. Please dismiss the 1400/1900 calorie suggestion there, it isn’t suitable for most of us. Check your own personal calorie allowance using the NHS BMI calculator, there is a link to this in the Welcome Newbie pack as well😊
