How many of us have tried a diet club? How
Many of us have succeeded? I am sat again today, looking a a certain diet class, never tried this one before. Thinking it could be what I need to get my motivation started. Just do not know how too begin 😢

Why not make use of what's on offer here? All free. You could join a weekly weigh in tomorrow morning. And start browsing the Daily Diary where members share their meal plans, then join in when you're ready. You'll find them in Pinned Posts, following the link lucigret gave you when you joined
Motivation is something different. It means the reason for doing something, so that comes from within you. Maybe give some thought to why you want to lose weight and how things will be different when you do so. Some people write it down and put it somewhere they'll see it often, or they use a picture or an item of clothing as a prompt. Would something like that work for you?
This is a diet club isn't it ? so that's all of us. As a male I find that most forums are dominated by females and feminine issues. It's unsettling to be in the minority group for a change.
Hi Bigred if you benefit from a bit of support on your healthy journey to take control of your weight there is a lot of constructive support on this site if you are a man or a woman. I've definately found it really useful. Mind you I joined Slimming World once many moons ago so things like that don't really put me off anyway. However you at are right a lot more woman strive to take control of their weight by joining support groups. Perhaps women have got it right. Good luck with it mate
I have been to two diet clubs in my time - Rosemary Conley many years ago - lost some weight always felt hungry and put the weight back on over time. Last year I joined a Slimming World group with great success but now I have lost the weight I want to keep it off. I have been lurking on this group for a while before getting stuck in and I find that it has all the components of a group ie Regular Weigh in Day and Daily Diary support. It is free and available all week round so is actually gives a lot more than a weekly group. The only thing you need to bear in my is that you are left to decide with type of diet to follow - there is plenty of guidance but it is a bit confusing as different plans work for different people. Have a look round the site using a computer (much better than doing it on a phone) and you will find guidance on how to begin. Good luck.
I would never do this again and I agree with Bridgegirl-you have all you need here xx
Thank you, this is just what I needed. You are right BridgeGirl, the motivation does come from within
Open 24-7 365 Days s year and it's free.

Around 2 years ago I googled something similar especially as I’d seen some friends and family with success and some ups and downs with various weight loss clubs and diets. I looked up reviews and read NHS article that support was main thing that made the difference. I did the 12 week plan and nervously joined this forum towards the end of the 12 weeks and it has been fantastic for continued progress, support, ideas, help and I am now very close to my goal weight and everyone mentions how good I am looking. So another vote for right here!
In my time I have been a member of Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Scottish Slimmers and Rosemary Conley, in some cases more than once. Not to mention Herbalife. And probably some I have forgotten. I lost weight each time and put it all back on plus some every time. They all cost me money. I went to the group class once a week.
Since I joined this site a couple of years ago I have lost weight and kept it off more effectively than I have ever done in my life, and I haven't spent a penny. You can pop in every day, I think that makes a massive difference.
Personally they dont do it for me. If you are a beginner then fine, but I do ,t really need to be told not to eat pizza chips cake etc. The last ww I went to the leader was very scathing of vegans, which I thought appalling being one myself
I'd always viewed diet clubs as ritualised abuse (possibly unfairly) but their success rate did not seem to be good to me, with most people (as I understand it) yo-yo-ing back to and beyond their start weight.
I did use 'Second Nature' (an online 'diet club' I guess) to learn the process, which did help me, though it's essentially LCHF.
Support is good, but it needs to be sustainable so you can personally keep doing what you learned and not dieting as a commercial process that makes the person a perpetual dieter and consumer of dieting as a product.
