Hi everyone I have decided to join this group because as the title already says I have tried so many times to lose weight but I guess I'm not strong enough to keep up a diet... I'm currently 52 kg more than my ideal weight which makes me very sad. Everyday I wake up and I just can't look at the mirror and see my self... if you guys have any ideas of how I can be motivated everyday to work out and eat clean please give me your opinion or tricks.. thanks everyone

Hello Claudi26 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum

There are no tricks or magic solutions I'm afraid Claudi, just good old fashioned eating less. The 'trick' if there is one, is to reduce calories enough to lose fat, but not so low that you are hungry all the time and miserable. 😊

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask

Best wishes

Anna

Do make sure you check how many calories you should be having every day to be able to lose weight on the NHS bmi calculator because this gives you two different amounts that you are able to eat anywhere in between. If you eat less calories than this advises you will not be able to lose weight as your body will think that you are starving it. It will then end up turning everything you do eat into body fat to ensure it can continue. This weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. I am so glad I was given this information because as soon as I upped my calories to the right amount of calories I started to lose weight and have now lost 2 1/2st so far. Good luck with your journey.

The NHS 12 week programme keeps me on track and I write down all I eat and drink. Might this help you?

Hi, I want to wish you luck.

I have tried many times before but this time I'm thinking about a more healthy way of life than how I look. My thinking has definitely shifted, and I'm trying trying trying to just stop putting myself down. We are so much more than our weight.

Absolutely Annod85, our weight is just a tiny part of who we are. As an example I have lost 5 stone and the people closest to me don't notice it, much to my frustration sometimes! But the people a little further away (work colleagues etc) see it straight away. That just goes to show that people who love you see a different you than the one that you see in the mirror. So Claudi26 do this for your own reasons and not because of what others think and I think you will stick with it. Good luck. James

Welcome, Many use the Myfitnesspal app to track the calories. Try to change just one thing at a time. Small changes become routines and after a while you just think differently. This also helps to prevent feeling overwhelmed. Weightloss starts in the kitchen and not on the track. Exercise is very important for healthy living. .Getting active came for me before exercise. I just stopped asking the kids to do stuff like carrying and fetching.

Good luck. You can do this.
