Has anyone seen any of the interviews she's done to promote her new book about her struggles with weight? She had bariatric surgery a few years back and discusses her experiences with diets etc.
Jenni Murray - book: Has anyone seen any... - Weight Loss Support
Jenni Murray - book
I haven’t seen that, no, was it on television or the Radio?
I read a couple of her interviews but I’ve not read the book. Poor lady - she has really had her struggles with weight loss/gain.
I will be honest and say the thought of surgery makes me queasy so I would never consider it. However I know someone who had it done and it’s totally revolutionised their life. They’ve completely changed their mindset to food and followed all of the advice etc from the surgeon and had no unpleasant side effects. I’m really happy for them as at first I was concerned as it seemed such a serious step. Just shows I shouldn’t jump to conclusions!
It's quite hard reading isn't it? She's been on a bit of a rollercoaster her whole life. She seems happy with the results of her surgery.
I don’t know who she is. Is she famous?
She has presented the Women's Hour on Radio 4 for more than 30 years. So very famous if you listen (or listened) to R4. Who? if you didn't.
Oh yes, I know who she is now, thanks! I sometimes listen to Woman’s Hour on the way to work. It’s a really great programme with a beautifully intelligent host. I wish guys programmes were as intelligent, but apparently we just like “gobbing off” and hitting or shooting each other. Oh well, we’re not all like that fortunately! Thanks.
I’ve seen a couple of extracts from her book, which is due to come out on the 6th July ( I think) . It does look like an interesting read. I’m glad that Jenni has been able to find happiness after many years of emotional abuse From her mother concerning her diet and what she looked like. It shows how eating patterns and behaviour towards food and ourselves can be shaped from such a young age and it can be incredibly damaging if the messages are not channelled in a positive way.
I struggle myself and resonate with a lot of what jenni says. I have been using my lockdown time to try to re establish a healthy relationship with food... it ain’t easy. I am finding that meditation and self care/love helps though. I also listen to motivational speakers around positivity. My favourites are Dr Wayne dyer, Louise hay and tony robbins. They provide some life changing advice.
Hello Betrimsoon and welcome to the forum 😊. Well done on taking time to evaluate and establish better eating behaviour, it sounds like time well spent. I think most of us have issues around food and getting into the right head space is helpful. I’ve also learnt a lot on the forum about hunger and hormones and what triggers my over-eating. All useful stuff!
If you haven’t already then I recommend this video tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true
Have a good look around, especially at Pinned Posts and the Welcome Message (in your inbox) but please ask if you have any questions
Best wishes
Indigo 😊
Love her on Woman's hour... Will check it out
