Hi I'm new today and hoping this will give me a little more motivation. I've yo yo-ed a lot in the past and just ended up putting more weight on. I'm determined not to diet but just try for a healthier lifestyle but really do need to lose about 4 stone now which I can't get my head round! My husband is the same so I'm hoping he'll come along for the ride with me. Not sure quite how to start on here . . how do I join the Wednesday weigh in?? *gulp*

Hi and welcome, HealthySS :)

Good decision not to do any more dieting, it never works. You may find the guidelines here simpler and more effective for both of you healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

This will help you to correctly log your weight on today's weigh-in healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

Welcome HealthySS, good on you for taking the first steps to improving your health and the end to yo-yoing! I had weight loss/ healthy lifestyle explained to me as 'start habits that you would be happy to still be doing in 1 year, 2 years/ 5 years time' Start small and you can build on these.

For me, these have been

1. Meal planning every week & planning snacks and treats rather than eating when I want!

2. Learning to track my food on MyFitnessPal using calorie suggested range from NHS BMI checker.

3. Drinking at least one litre of water a day, more if I'm exercising

4. Move. For me this is a walk, some jogging or a body weight training at home.

5. Treating myself with a non food reward when I reach a goal, such as a nice bath or face mask in the evening.

I have found the NHS weightloss app (12 weeks) to be a great starting point, perhaps having a look at that and see if it's something you'd like to do?

Best of luck on your journey and see you around the forum :)

Hi HealthySS I've noticed you are around my weight so i am going to try and keep a eye on your journey and maybe it will help me in mine as I am 14st 2lb, this is the heaviest I have been apart from 25 years ago when I was expecting, so I will give it a go 🚴‍♀️🚶‍♀️
