I'm really struggling although i have increased my excercise. Started couch to 5 on wk4r2, walking at least 4 times a week at 1hr sessions and doing online excercise and occasionso weights to increase my strength. An example of my daily food intake breakfast- poached eggs on 1 slice of wholewheat bread, fruit throughout the day, lunch - crustless quiche with salad, dinner baked chicken, veg. Snacks although not every day may be 1 x cookie or piece of chocolate. Water around 1500ml per day. Wkend 3 glasses of red wine and with all the good weather most food has been cooked on the bbq as in the picture. All suggestions welcome.

Hello and welcome to the forum Keayma

During menopause you may be more likely to gain weight as your hormone balance changes, but it is not inevitable and can be dealt with.

Exercise alone, although very good for you, will not control weight gain.

Your example menu shows that you are consuming quite a few carbs and you may find that decreasing them and not eating anything with sugar in it, fruit included, will be really beneficial for weight loss.

You could for example change your breakfast to poached eggs on a bed of spinach or with bacon, tomato and mushroom and leave the bread out.

Crustless quiche and salad sounds great, add an olive oil based dressing or make your own mayonnaise to add some good fats, they will keep you full longer and you will not need to snack between meals.

Baked chicken and veg is ok. Cook your vegetable in butter or add a creamy sauce to make them extra filling and flavoursome :)

Be careful with fruit, it is full of sugar the best things to eat are berries with or without cream :)
