High cholesterol surprise
Forgive me if I am telling you things you already know, but...
- newer research shows that problematic cholesterol is not a high / low thing. There is good and bad cholesterol, the bad cholesterol is low density lipoprotein. This is well understood now, but not all family doctors & tests allow for this nuance. If it’s possible, you should ask your doctor to be tracking this, not just overall cholesterol levels
- the received wisdom for several decades on cholesterol is to eat a low fat diet. More recent research show that it’s the excess sugar & carbohydrate we eat that turns into those baddie low density lipoproteins. This is emerging & has yet to become generally understood by all the medical community though
- If you want to look into the science, I can recommend a book...
- short answer, cut right back on sugar & carbs.

British Heart Foundation do a free online course on how to lower the “ LDL “bad” fats .and have healthy cholesterol levels, Very easy to do and understand. I followed the easy steps and my blood fats levels where so improved (that my doctor sent me a text congratulating me on the impressive improvement in my blood test results and health. No fad diets or dietary advice that went against the current NHS guidelines and I easily lost weight at the same time. I trust the British Heart Foundation information.
