After gaining 2lbs over the last week and realising that, after 3 months I have only lost 8lbs, I decided that I was going to stick to a specific and rigid plan for 1 week to kick start me back to living a healthier lifestyle. It's been a good first day of a sticking strictly to a controlled calorie intake and exercise, but I know that motivation wanes. So today I reflected on what it has been like getting back on it hard. Back to moderation and a normal healthy in 7 days.
It’s not easy with everything that’s going on, so you are back on track now and 8lbs is good. It’s come off slowly, but that’s ok. Good luck to you, you’re doing well. Best wishes 😊
Well done Wordsworth2- i was in yr position a couple of weeks ago and it was back to basics for me - not what im eating, record it and review! I'm now feeling more motivated - just getting up and saying to yourself ok let's do this is a great energiser. Good luck to you and your wife.
hi Lavender54, thank you for your support. It does feel like it takes three times as long to get rid of it as it does to put it on. Hopefully by the end of the year I will be at my goal weight. Good luck on your journey.
Hi May38, thank you for your support, it means a lot. But I will never give up. Every back step just means I have to take two forward. I'm going to do this and I am sure you will too!
hi ary88, thank you so much for your support! As long as we can recognise what we're doing and do something about it, everything will work out! I intend to keep going, just as you have! Good luck with your journey!
Thanks,it's tougher and with progress, should get less so
Eight pounds is still good! It's nearly 1/2lb a week. Feel proud that you have achieved it. Don't beat yourself up too much about smaller weight losses; just try to get back to a point where the weight is coming off and not going on! We'd all like to lose as much as possible as quickly as we can, but a slow loss is better for your immune system.
Hi BM138, thank you for your support, it really does mean a lot. I know that 8lbs is good, the thing for me is that I know I can do better and I haven't been. I have been slacking and I need to get back on it. I love how positive you are and, most of the time, so am I. I am going to do it and I will get there! Thank you for the boost! Good luck on your own journey.
I'm not always positive and it's my Mum's funeral today so feeling rather low. I just know when it comes to weight loss we all have to accept that sometimes it doesn't go as well as we'd like. We just have to "forgive ourselves" and keep going. We will get there even if the journey takes a bit longer.
I'm sorry to hear about your mum's funeral. I'm sure this will be a day of reflection and memories, in with the sadness.
Re weight loss, it's worth thinking that, if it isn't happening, maybe it's the plan that's failing, not you. Rather than ploughing on with the same one, it could be time to try something new 🙂
Hi BM138. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope that you can find the strength to come out the other side. I lost my mum 4 years ago and, although the pain never goes away, for me the memories that made me cry then now make me smile and remember her fondly. I absolutely agree with BridgeGirl, which is why I started again as what I was doing was obviously not working. Please stay strong and remember to talk about your feelings to your family in this tough time. I am always here on on my website if you ever need to talk.
Thank you for your very kind words. My Mum had the most amazing life and was one of those rare people who really lived it to the full but still found time to give to others. She was very fit and sporty until her mid-80s and was enviably slim (with the most fantastic legs!) throughout her life. I clearly didn't get her genes, was tubby in childhood, a fat teenager and now 'obese' (short chunky legs even in thinner days). I have always been embarrassed about my weight and there are so many things I would liked to have done but always used being overweight as an excuse. I feel that I owe it to her but more to myself to deal with my weight problems and to get more out of life - regardless of whether I'm overweight or not! At the moment what I am doing to lose weight is working and I am achieving a reasonable weekly loss. I think I just need to stick to it, accept that it will take many months (I'd like to lose 4 stone eventually) and be a little more determined to succeed.
Hi BM138, that is a great way of looking at it. Losing weight has to be slow and steady or you'll simply yoyo. It's a healthier lifestyle you want, with exercise and the right foods. There are some exceptional people on here that can guide you and lots of pinned articles that can help you in all manner of ways. I am not saying it won't be hard...it probably will be. However, with the right motivation and encouragement you will do this! There is also my blog, if you want to see some of the trials and tribulations I have had trying to lose weight. Even if you only manage to lose a little or exercise a little, doing something is always better than doing nothing. Your mum sounded like an absolutely wonderful woman and I am sure that she would love to see you become more confident and I am sure she will be on your side and encouraging you from Heaven. I will follow your progress with you! Keep going! Stay strong!
