Nothing to add but the title! To tempting to jump on every day, but I'm resisting to go for once a week

I read a study (I will find it later for you if you like) that showed that people that weighed themselves had the most success. Now that could mean daily weighing was a factor, or that daily weighing went along with other behaviours that actually caused more success, or that people didn't want to hop on their internet connect scales when they knew they had put on weight.

However, it was enough for me to go with daily weighing. After a few days you learn that even when the overall trend is down, you go up almost as often as you go down day by day. I think it makes me calmer about fluctuations. I weigh in here on Fridays, and unlike many others I don't get a shock on Friday if the needle hasn't moved. I think it's psychologically better for me. Others find daily weighing drives them a little crazy.

You have to find what works for you.

You might consider recording your weight somewhere like weightgrapher.com/

It smoothes out the zigzag and let's you know you are still on track.

Exactly my thoughts and couldn’t say it better. I weigh every day and it helps me because I see how much weight fluctuates daily and once I got used to that it actually helped. But it’s right some people can never get used to that and prefer once a week because you’re more likely to see a loss from good work. The problem for me is I can gain 3 pounds in a day from bloating and if that happened to be a weigh-in day I would be so depressed if I hadn’t already seen a lower number on the scales on another day.

Once a week is fine.. if you do it every day you could put yourself off if your are losing the weight slowly...

It depends on you. If you get upset if the scales doesnt go down then once a week is more than enough. If you can manage you can weight everyday, you should know that weight fluctuates a lot. Webs that subtlebadger suggested could be useful to help you with that.

Good luck!!

Although I've recently restarted. I've gone months without weighing myself, and there's been times where I've jumped on every day.

As a general rule of thumb though, once, maybe twice per week.

Hi Lauratb Looks like it depends on the person! I try to stick to once a week only as I know weight fluctuates but I still get very disheartened if the numbers go up. So, I think weighing at the same time of day once a week is best as it’s long enough for the scales to show a downward trend (hopefully!). Sometimes I find it hard to resist a sneaky weigh in half-way through the week though! 😁

I weigh daily and my fitbit gives me an average across the week. During previous weight loss I've weighed myself less often. Can't honestly say which is better. Some people I know say just once a week.
