After a serious accident on my mountain bike, neck brace and immobile for nearly 3 weeks and at the moment no use of my left arm, l will refrain from posting here as it is quite a task getting set up to use computer. Hairline fracture of vertebrae, which is as far as l am concerned lucky but left arm is painfully hang down at my side with just movement in hand and fingers. I am reassured it will improve but will take time. Keep up the good work everybody and l will return when l am more able. Forgive me if l do not reply to any of you but you are all in my thoughts. O my what a horrible sounding accident!!All the very best with your recovery Ascelus, you are in our thoughts too. Take care of yourself and when ( obviously only when) physio is recommended, follow it. I broke my shoulder years ago and was not as diligent as I should have been with my physio and later had to have surgery to regain about 90% rotation. I learnt my lesson and followed exercise plans from the off as soon as I was allowed !
As someone who injured themselves last year, I know that 1) following medical advice is crucially important and 2) if some area hurts don’t let them fob you off with a “don’t worry, that will fall in place later”. Insist on Ultrasound and/or MRI etc in order to get to the bottom of each problem early on.
Wow hope you recover OK. I went flying over the handlebars above Malham and jumped back on but something sharp was sticking in my hand. It turned out I'd split a bone end to end (wrist to little finger). So I'd done all the climbing and had to walk down the descent to the Tennant Arms where I administered a large dose of liquid pain killer. Good luck mate I'm sure you'll be OK!!!
Sorry to hear about your accident, it sounds awful. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Lesley
