Hi, I'm new to this forum - actually new to forums altogether. Been a yoyo dieter all my life, my motivator this year is that I've had a bout of feeling unwell with chronic indigestion and gall bladder problems. I also want to go on a holiday towards the end of this year that I'd need to be fairly fit for. I don't have a poor diet, was eating way too much butter and cheese which gave me the health issues. But portion control is not a strong point! Have been on the NHS healthier eating/fitness for past 6 weeks but am hitting a wall with weight loss, so need support and motivation. Thanks

We recommend that all members join a Weekly Weigh-In, on the day of your choice, and also use the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans and get useful feedback. The Weigh Ins and Daily Diary run from 9pm the night before to 9pm the next day so Mondays will be opening soon which is why my reply to you now won't be long as I have various Admin tasks to do with that process 🙂
A special feature of our Forum is the degree of support between members which you will experience (and add to yourself !) as you join in and chat with others.

Good morning dontdojogging. Sounds like you have a great goal to aim for with your holiday! Like you my weakness is cheese and my portion sizes are too big. It's really difficult when you have a non weight loss period of time. Try to ignore it, maybe up the exercises and double check the calories. Push on and keep that holiday in focus!
It's not unusual to hit a wall but you've done right thing coming on here will get plenty of support especially if you join in a weigh day. Try mixing up your foods we tend to get into a rut after a while. And cut out any processed food or cut down at least. Also having a goal like holiday will help with motivation

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
