Hi All, I'm a newbie. I am looking for support in my weight loss journey. Very recently I have put on a good 8lbs extra (or more) and I am struggling to lose this weight which might also be due to my age (50). I can be active at times - as last year I completed the couch to 5k programme. I have been exercising on and off but not very good with my diet or calorie counting, so I thought I'll give one more try!
My weight in is : 9st 5lb - hoping to lose about a stone.
There's a lot there but it's worth taking your time to read, honest!
We recommend you joining a Weekly Weigh In on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans and get useful feedback. Both of todays are open until 9pm today and Mondays Daily Diary is already open so why not have a look?
It would be a good idea to check out your BMI if you've not already done so..you don't need a tape measure just your weight and height and here's a link to the NHS calculator
A key and distinctive feature of our Forum is the support between members which you will experience (and add to yourself !) as you join in and chat with others. Just join in and you'll soon see how friendly people are.
Welcome! Everyone here is at different stages in the journey to a new lifestyle (we really don't like the D**t word!) .... as Diane2 says it's about joining in ... hope to see u around!
I am 70, and I was able to lose weight and get fit(er).
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Hi S11m, thanks for your reply, which I also find motivating due to our age differences. I spent a bit of extra time this morning in preparing my lunch and calorie counting.... it definitely will take me time to get used to this.
Tonight my husband is cooking chicken casserole with extra veg! Didn't get a chance to exercise today but will definitely exercise tomorrow!
