9pm munchies tips?

Hi. I have just joined and am not quite ready to go all out with healthy living but want to take baby steps and build up to a better healthier lifestyle.

Anyone else see 9pm as time for munchies. I like to pick at something; chocolates, cake, crisps and a nice glass of wine for example.

I would love to hear from you if you managed to make better swaps and choices please.

Popcorn. Just by normal popcorn in a 500g bag. It's super cheap. Put a handful of the unadorned corn in a microwave dish (glass is nice) and put it on high for a minute or 2. Listen to it pop. Keep adding time until it starts popping, reaches a crescendo and then the pops start to die down. Turn off the microwave, wait a few seconds for it to finish popping and sprinkle with salt (and chilli powder or whatever you like). That's it. 30kcal/cup. Any unpopped kernels can go back in the microwave after you have eaten the popped ones.

I don't know anything that is so pleasurable to eat with so little calories. Do not buy microwave popcorn in the special bags. It costs so much more, causes more waste and has way more calories from ingredients that you probably don't have in your kitchen. All popcorn is microwave popcorn as long as you have a container with a heavy lid (glass) or a lid that holds on.

Not for me, ATM, because I am low carb and intermittent fasting, so they are right off the table. But I broke my rules the other night with friends, and really enjoyed them.

Thank you. Popcorn does sound like it will satisfy my munchies. Great idea 👏

Thanks.

For the record, I didn't lose weight when snacking on popcorn, but I didn't put it on either. I think the popcorn was neutral.

Hello and welcome CoastyBay 😊

Evening nibbling is a tough habit to break, but it is a habit and can be changed, it just takes a determination to change and lots of practice. Either planning an evening snack into your calorie target, or if you can manage it, tell yourself “Kitchen is Closed” after 7 and then come on here and chat as a distraction 😊

You will have been sent a link to Pinned Posts in your welcome message. Please read it carefully so you can find all the information you need to find your way around.

This is a very busy forum with lots going on, and nothing beats joining in, reading posts and replying to others. Our group Weigh-in and the Daily Diary are probably the best places to start.

Best wishes in your weight loss journey

Indigo 😊
