I lost 2kg's until Sunday last week. I was on a pretty strict diet but coping ok, excising as well. Yesterday, I "had the day off", chocolate and crisps, roast dinner, weigh in this morning says I've put on 2kgs????
Whats going on?

Good morning RodeoJoe and Happy New Year 😊 As you haven’t been around for a while I suggest you have a good read of the pinned posts as a few things ave changed.
Couple of points, it’s impossible to gain 2kg of fat overnight, it’s most likely fluid as a response to the sudden change. Get back on plan as soon as you can and then you’ll see most of it go.
However, in my experience, trying to ‘diet’ or restrict food intake too severely is the biggest cause of weight loss failure, it is simply unsustainable.
Lastly, nothing beats joining in with forum events and activities for motivation, especially the Daily Diary and the Group Weigh-in’s. A key feature of the Forum is the support between members which you will experience as you join in.
Thank you for your reply. I didn't think it could possibly be fat, but that makes perfect sense that it could be water retention. I'm taking inspiration from the blood sugar diet which is very restricted calories. Any slower weight loss and I lose inspiration so for me losing 1\4 KG a week won't work.
Perhaps this isn't the forum for me then?
As Indigo has mentioned, you can't really whack on fat that quickly. Any heavy exercise can lead to water retention in the short term.
If you've tried being restrictive in the past and that has helped you reach your goals and maintain them then carry on and best of luck If not, then maybe consider trying to think and do things differently.
Yes, last year I lost about a stone. I lost inspiration when the weight stopped coming off at a fast rate. At the time I didn't understand weight loss and just gave up when I stopped losing. It stayed off for a good 6 months even though my diet wasn't restricted. So it does work, but I know I lose inspiration very quickly, and a hiccup can throw me.
It sounds like you're describing one of the normal symptoms of plateauing, caused by too rapid weight loss.
You mention that this forum doesn't sound like the place for you but if you can get past the idea that weight loss is a race and more an attempt for us to learn to eat 'normally', you may find it enjoyable place to attain your overall goals
Nearly all of us will have hiccups (I'm a classic example) but the support here prevents many from throwing in the towel.
Best of luck!
Every gram of carbohydrate combines with, I think, 3 grams of water to form glycogen.
I have "reset" my body's "normal" weight, and my weight is now very stable:
I now think that, when I am hungry and below my target weight, I need to eat - so, I looked in the kitchen cupboard and found a packet of packets of crisps - and ate the lot - and I was at my target weight the next morning!
