Challenging Sinatra - but class myself as a newbie!

As in comebacks, not in vocal prowess; my history is joined, lapsed, rejoined and lapsed again. Hoping this time it's for the duration! Family wedding in April and didn't like the photos of me from the last one a few months ago! Blood pressure up and last I looked, weight was 15 stone - the aim is more like 13 and a half. Pretty active but prone to scones and beers! Need motivation and shared encouragement.

Welcome back Ceebee.

My biggest suggestion would be to engage as much as possible. Getting help and advice is great but I find that engaging and providing support helps keep me focused even more so. Not necessarily very altruistic but anything that helps I guess :)

Add the Weekly Weigh-In and the Daily Diarys to your mobile calendar so that you never 'forget'. Additionally there are a number of other ongoing events that make the whole process more 'enjoyable' :)

Posted a reply to my post instead of to you! I’ll play newbie card!

Ta Tiggerr. In my previous days I don’t think I posted on daily diaries. In fact I think I was quite random with any posts. I did do weigh ins and posted changes for what they were worth and did get encouragement of course but I don’t think I grasped that community effort you describe. I need to work on that.

Tagging Tiggerr so he sees this

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I have had many fail moments and it's only the act of coming here as often as I do (and bitching about it :O ) that has helped me get through those previous 'alone' moments.

Good luck! :)

Hello, Ceebee4 and a big 2020 welcome :)

I hope you'll make the most of the forum by joining in the events, Clubs and Challenges on offer. You'll find them in Pinned Posts and here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

A good starting point is joining a weekly weigh-in and using the Daily Diary to share your meal and exercise plans. Wherever you go and whatever you opt in to, please chat with others and encourage them, as they will for you.

You were previously a member of the Monday weigh-in team but you would be welcome to join whichever day suits you.

Have a good look through the Pinned Posts and jump in :)

Thanks BridgeGirl. I was indeed Mondays. Happy to fit in on any day. Is there a Wednesday weigh in?

There certainly is and just1me and the team will give you a warm welcome. It will be open from 9 this evening for 24 hours. We ask everyone to reply to at least three others on their posts so you get to know people, and you'll have no difficulty there, they'll talk your socks off :)

Hi, Ceebee4 , welcome back.

I am happy at 15 stone - but I am 6' 3".

Maintenance can be the biggest challenge.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works, for weight-loss and maintenance, is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Thanks S11m. I’m ten minutes into the 10 intermittent fasting tips video. 16/8 is quite a concept! Like I say, still watching!

Lots to take in but a good first day for me. Need to plan the what as well as the whens!

lucigret in reply toCeebee4

There is a lot to take in, I would suggest that you take your time to read everything and come up with a plan. In the meantime, just change 1 thing a day until you have had time to have a read and a think. It's not a race and we are going no where. Better to be properly prepared and have a sustainable plan that you will be able to stick to :)

That makes sense. Thanks lucigret.

Getting there! I’m going to try to get towards 16/8 which I think I’ll manage ok. Then I need to figure what to put into those 8 hours to not spoil the effort. LCHF intrigues me. I heard the ex MP Tom Watson on radio talking about increasing fat last week.

lucigret in reply toCeebee4

LCHF is so easy. The food is really tasty and filling and you will easily manage 16/8 following LCHF.

Look at the link Lytham gave you above for Diet Doctor and have a good read. I am only too sure that if you wanted to have a chat about it, or get some ideas for meals She would be happy to help. In fact if you look at the Daily Diary, in pinned posts, you will find lots of ideas for meals. Quite a few people there are on the LCHF, not all though so be careful what ideas you choose to pinch :)
