A poem I wrote today

Rainbow

Even when the sun shines strong and bright, why are we surrounded by doubts and fears?

Why is the world such a dark sad place?

Why do people have to hurt?

Why can`t we all live in light and love!

We are not steps upon which to stand on!

We all should be friends that can be relied upon, to help and support through the dark of life that will help to lift each other up into the light with love and support.

Your success should be mine and mine should be yours! Or do we just live in a dream? Do we live in a bubble?

Why is it so hard to see through the strom!

Where is the Rainbow to brighten up the way, with all it`s magical colours that help heal and send pain away?

Let the negitvie clouds get blown away to allow the flowers to bloom and grow! And their colours be made britghter by the Rainbows glow!

At the end of the Rainbow sits a pot of gold!

Full of wonders and treasures untold!

Everyone reaches for the this pot of gold!

But that is not the great gift to behold!

To lift up someone when they are down!

To wipe a ways tears and frowns!

To be the warmth when everything seems cold and dark!

These are some of the greatest treasures to behold!

To lift someone up when they look like they might fall down.

To just be there silently holding a hand.

No words need to be spoken, you just have to be there!

Love and trust are felt! They are energy!

So when the clouds start rolling, look for the Rainbow that is within!

If you can not see it in yourself then open your eyes!

For there is always a rainbow around! Tho it may be hard to see and dim to start!

But the Rainbow will grow and grow.

It must start somewhere.

It always will!

Rainbows are the best!

They bridge sadness and lead to happiness!

But the thing to remeber about Rainbows isn`t about where they go !

It about the joy they bring! The smile they make! The sign that they give!

That love is real!

That we need Rainbows!

Always will!

Great poem Stargazer and I know where you're coming from.

With my practical head on I'd say that most of the doom and gloom is driven by the media, whether it's the TV news, newspapers, online etc... there is a constant stream of news that picks at the negative side of stories. This in turn permeates to us all and leaves us talking about the dark side of things.

Since coming here I've tried to limit how much of this news I let in and have subscribed to this website ( goodnewsnetwork.org ) so that daily, I receive an email with links to several good news stories.

There is more good happening in this world than bad but it is rarely highlighted, eg. where's the story about this forum and the immense good that it does for people who feel they've got nowhere to go?
