I won't be around for a while

40 Replies

Today I lost the most wonderful and strongest lady I had the priviledge to call my Mum. For now my eating plans are on the back burner. I wish everyone on here the best of luck and warm thoughts for their continued success to a healthy lifestyle. I will be bowing out of the forum for a little while, my heart feels as though it has been ripped out and I have to put my energies into just getting through each day.

I am sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself and take the time you need and at your own pace. Remember there are good organisations out there if you need help. We lost my aunt last year to cancer it took her quicker than was expected and my Uncle was devastated. He has taken things at his own pace and although I can't remember the name of the organisation who helped him, they have been great. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Take care.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Shellie,

My heart goes out to you, if you manage to read this {{{{hug}}}}

I'm so very sorry for the sad loss of your Mum. It's so hard to accept the death of a much loved and cherished parent, when my Dad died 2 years ago it was as though the bottom had fallen out of my world, not a day goes by that I don't think about him.

Going by my own experience I know no words can ease your pain, in fact I felt as though I were suffering alone, I have no brothers or sisters and kept telling everyone they had no idea how I felt, that he was only my Dad so how could they possibly know how I was feeling. In the end I took my doctor's advice and had counselling to help me through what was a very difficult time in my life and it really did help. It's early days for you Shellie and your pain is very raw, I'm not going to say it gets better or that time heals because I'm not entirely sure how true that is, I think you just get better at dealing with the hurt, all I would say is try to focus on the good and happy times you had with your Mum and do what you know she would want you to do...look after yourself.

Take care my dear and know that me and many other people here are thinking of you and sending you our heartfelt sympathy.

There is a lovely meditation on you tube called loving kindness meditation, has a yellow and white flower on the picture and lasts for 13 minutes. I find it very comforting and helpful. Going for a walk in countryside/park and thinking of your dear mum may also help. I will be thinking of you and sending good wishes.

So sorry to hear your news. Forget everything it's time to grieve now. I lost my darling mum in September, 2 days after my daughters wedding where she looked fit and well. I miss her everyday. Take care and be kind to yourself. Xx

Very very sorry that you have lost your lovely Mum. The pain and shock right now must feel unbearable, but in time this will very slowly be replaced by only happy memories of Mum and the times you shared.

I agree with other readers, don't be afraid of accepting grief counselling if things feel too tough. I really wish it had been available for me 46 years ago when I lost my own Mum, but it was 1969 and the people around me didn't "talk about personal stuff". I was 16.

Your Mum will always, always remain in your heart and you will think of her and talk to her most days for evermore. That is a positive thing. God bless you and take care of yourself . X

Hi Shellie - I'm so sorry to hear your news. Sending lots of <hugs>.

Totally, totally understand your feelings. Lost my mum July 7 2008, still miss her fiercely. Take care of yourself, if you can- your mum would still want to hug and cherish and care for you, now you have to do it for her. Much easier to give that advice than to take it! Virtual hug from me x
