Welcome to the forum Simmoo
Sorry to hear that you need a hip replacement but the good news, is that whilst exercise can be a factor in our overall health, it doesn't have to be a component of weight loss.
Whether you're calorie counting, following lchf or some other form of healthy eating, mindful eating will help you achieve your goal.
An administrator will reply shortly (if they haven't already!). Best to read 'everything' as it can really make the difference.
My top tips are to join in one of the weekly weigh-ins and the Daily Diary. Both are populated by non judgemental, supportive people that are all in a similar position to you.
All the best
Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Simmoo
Don’t worry about lack of exercise, changes in eating & food reduction will work. 😊
There is some evidence that a lower carbohydrate plan can help with inflammatory disease such as arthritis, I have found this quite helpful, as well as enjoying some good healthy fat in my diet. Have a read of this phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

Just come.back from seeing a neurologist/spinal surgeon who says important to eat healthy balanced diet before an operation. He especially advised drinking plenty of water for a couple of months before an op so that the blood and body is well hydrated. Know this helps with weight loss as keeps you feeling fuller for longer. Hip pain awful. You could try Headspace free app for relaxation, mindful eating and pain relief. Lost my weight with the nhs 12 week plan that includes all food groups including milk, eggs, lower fat or smaller amounts of cheese and oily fish, and lean meats and beans. Any diet works as long as you eat less food. The trick is to give your body all the nutrients that it needs. Good luck. U are motivated so you can do this.
Hi there, I haven't had hip replacement, but I've had both knees replaced which they refused to do when I was 22st. so it was diet only as I really couldn't walk! It was slow but I got there have now had both knees done and weigh in at 15st 10lbs and am enjoying walking again. You can do it with diet, just get in the right frame of mind and think about being pain free. Good luck.
Welcome Simmoo . Joint pain is just awful so every time you think you might stray and eat something you shouldn’t just think of the time when you will feel pain free. As Slimforsummer says get yourself into the habit of a good healthy way of eating and drinking plenty of water. Whatever you do now will help you get to where you want to be and will also help in your recovery.
You say that you can’t exercise but are you able to swim?
Good luck 🙂
