Hi Nee,
Welcome to the forum, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of it. It's a friendly and supportive place.
I would like to give you a few links to helpful pages within the forum, and so I would recommend having a good read through in the first instance, and would like to encourage you to please join in anything that you fancy - especially our Monday group weigh-in - look at the latest link in the 'Events' section of the homepage (top right-hand-side of home page) for relevant thread. The next Monday weigh-in will be 15th February - so maybe see you there if you would like to join us. You'd be very welcome.

p.s. Several of us have lost a significant amount of weight. Speaking personally, I was 18 stone 8 pounds at my heaviest, and I was 13 stone 0.4 pound at last Monday's weigh-in, so I've lost 5.5 stones. I've been at my healthy BMI for the past couple of years, and I'm just trying to lose an extra half stone to get to my ideal weight of 12 stone 7 pounds, which I hope to do by Easter!
Thank you,
I'm on a long road to finding what works best for me but I have already decided after reading some of the post on here that I need to make lifestyle changes that are manageable and will stay, it's not going to happen over night for me there are no fast fixes for my weight but firstly for myself and then my family I'm going to take a step at a time to become lighter and healthy. Set an achievable goal and aim for that one first that's my plan.
Hi Nee,
Scary isn't it? But not impossible My BMI was just over 57 when I started. It is now around 45 - still high but I'm getting there. Getting your BMI below 40 has huge health benefits.
How mobile are you Nee1? I was very immobile and barely about to walk 1km. I started on my journey by trying to walk 20 minutes per day - it was a struggle for a few weeks but now I can happily walk 10 km. I'd urge you to download the mapmywalk app or buy a GPS watch. I found both of these things helped me massively to keep going with the walking, they are so motivating.
Then, simply cut down on your food intake - reduce your snacking and portion sizes. You don't have to make massive changes initially just a few gradual changes and you will start to notice the difference.
We are all different, but for me I found that by walking I automatically wanted to eat less as it felt silly to take exercise without cutting down on food too.
Set yourself lots of mini targets - half stones, next stones, kilos etc.
You can do it I promise.
Goo luck
Hi sueper
Thank you, I not that mobile to be honest I work full time as a chef, which involves standing for long periods and walking around the kitchen but I don't do any excerise I'm just too achey when I finish work to think about it, but I going to try starting with a bit of walking.
Well done on your drop in bmi
Do you mind me asking which diet you followed ? How long your journey has been.
Well I'm a Weight Watcher, but I love this forum for sharing ideas and tips. I don't think it matters which diet plan you follow as long as it is one you are happy with. So pick the one you think sounds most fun. People do seem to be getting great results with the 12 week NHS plan. And you know it's not faddy. Good luck with your planning and shopping and your first weigh in.

Do you own a fitbit, or similar? There are other chefs on the site and they actually clock up quite a lot of K's walking around their prospective kitchen, you may find you're the same
It may be that you're doing a lot of "tasting" and that you're consuming a lot of calories without being aware of them. Maybe to start with, all you need to do, is become mindful of what you're actually eating. Keep a food log - you can use an app on your phone called myfitnesspal, which will keep track of what you eat, calories and exercise.
If you're already aware of your BMI, then you should have a good idea of the number of calories that you can eat per day whilst still losing weight. It should be quite a lot, so don't think you have to start living on lettuce leaves!
Take each day as it comes and keep logging onto the forum for motivation and support.
I really hope we'll see you at the weigh-in tomorrow
All the very best to you
