Hi, I’m 19 and over the last 5 years I’ve put on a lot of weight. I’ve always tried dieting and exercise but I’ve always given up too easy finding excuses or being too lazy. The real problem for me is food. I eat way more than I should and whatever I try I can’t not give in to my cravings. After many years and very unsubtle comments from my parents I’ve decided to try harder at losing weight and eating less and try the NHS 12 week programme, hopefully this time will be different.

Have you talked with your doctor about changing your diet plan? Have you been told to eat low carb high protein? Low carb high protein dieting helps with weight loss and blood sugar control ( my personal experience).😀👍

Hi and welcome, April_life :)

Dieting is never the way forward, as it implies a set period of restriction, followed by a return to the eating habits that led to the original weight gain. You may find this interesting, as it gives a possible reason for your cravings well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013...

You may find this an easier way to lose weight, as it promotes eating fresh food in its natural state, including healthy fat phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

Exercise, whilst being very important for health and fitness, plays a very small part in weight loss.

Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary.

The 12 week plan is an excellent place to start your journey, but as moreless says, don’t think of it as a diet with a time limit on it unless you are ready to see your weight yo-yo right back up afterwards. It’s a lifestyle change you are after. You can do it!

Parents do care .I am Mum to an overweight 32 year old very successful son but his networking involves food and he has ballooned .It is hard not to hint but my subtle digs don't work . You are taking the lead .Small steps and like most younger people I work with -they have money , live with parents so they snack too .Try to one at a time cut these out .Every snack equals cash to join a gym .Whilst you are there -my time is evening when I am at the ideal time to empty the fridge .Develop a gym nights routine.Let us know your progress.I only weigh once a week .You will see a difference by eating proper food and not powered shakes which aren't real life .

Not what you're looking for?
