Hi everyone.

I have lost two stone since May following the Fast 800 diet. My own GP recommended it. It is the only diet that has worked for me. I am over 45,so losing weight has been v difficult due to hormones.

This diet is amazing and educates you on how to stay a healthy weight.

Good luck.

Hi Catcafe1 - nice to see you, and well done on finding and following something that has worked for you. I love hearing people's success stories.

Can you share a little bit more about Fast 800 here? And have you lost all the weight you planned or are you still going - and how do you plan to keep it off?

basically it is what it says on the tin, as in not consuming more than 800 calories a day. It was a diet I was put on many years ago, didn't work for me though as I really was hungry all the time, tired too. I found 1000 to 1200 calories worked much better, and produced the same sort of results.

What, every day??? I would definitely struggle with that one. 😕

But thank you ozziesmum , can be good to keep things simple. 😊

I’m just starting it this week but I’m really struggling not having milk in my morning coffee. I’d compromised by having fruit tea but apparently that’s not encouraged. I think I may just do the 5:2 diet as that seems more manageable.

I like the 5:2 Anne 😊 I reviewed it here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I was wondering why fruit teas are frowned upon. No calories in them, at least none to speak of. What next, a blanket ban on water!

I actually looked at the calories on the packet and it was 2 per teabag so I’m ignoring that advice. I’m wondering if it was someone from outside the UK where fruit tea has sugar added.

Could be, here in the UK we obviously have more sense. I did once try honey in a fruit tea, much as I love honey, it tasted horrible. Ho hum at least I knew not to repeat that. I was given a pack of Tea Pigs chocolate/mint tea for my birthday. Definitely yummy, and only 3 calories a go. I also love liquorice/mint, or even liquorice on its own. Mostly I drink chamomile though as it is cheaper.

Well done Catcafe1, though 800 cals seems such a small amount - it has obviously worked for you! Sustaining 800 cals must be the next challenge...but perhaps you can be a bit more flexible once goal weight is reached.

I am 59 next month, 20 years since my menopause, and thought I could not shed a single pound. Yet on LCHF (not even strict) I have lost 6lbs since 5 July, and am free of the constant craving for carbs. So it's great that we can all find what works for us! All the best.

Hey, well done!

Just checked it out and the author/researcher/dietian looks like a good one for me to consider too as the effect my diet has on my guts, mood and health is my biggest concern. He has a book of his called The Clever Guts Diet which looks good and from my own experience fasting is usually the only thing that really fixes my gut pains.

Thanks for sharing and again - really, well done.
