Calorie counting for ladies

Weightwatchersgal profile image

How does the calorie counting work exactly?

Sounds silly but are any of you a bit lost when it comes to carbs and how much of it to eat?

Thank you

Are you looking at doing a low carb diet?

To be honest I’m undecided as I’m also following weight watchers so it’s all pointed

Weight watchers is a low fat, high carb diet, based on points. Those points are also based on calorie counting, but the company keeps the control and leaves you in the dark about the calorific value of food.

It is possible to lose weight without counting anything at all, I did it. You may find the LCHF forum of assistance healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet

I gave you this link earlier, that explains how calorie counting is unnecessary healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

Well done on your 3 stone off that is great :)

personally I wouldn't use WW or SW

I started by following the NHS 12 week plan and that really helped me get going - I did the NHS BMI calculator and ate in the middle of the range to start with and lost

I have seen the results in LCHF eating as a friend of mine has done it for 3 months and she has lost 3 dress sizes

So now I am looking more into this :)

Wishing you all the best :)

Hey Weightwatchersgal ive done WW in many of its forms, before points existed as a teen in the 80s to a recent failed attempt a few years ago. In my honest opinion; diets don’t work!

You have to change your relationship and approach to food and ‘ healthy’ eating.

I no longer do the whole low fat/ calorie counting thing. I follow LCHF and don't weigh or measure.

Maybe if I was more fastidious the weight would be coming off faster but I’m happy knowing I can eat til I’m full and enjoy cheese!!!!

I’ll never forget a WW leader saying to avoid cheese completely whilst we ‘ got started’ and to never eat more than a matchbox size of cheese.

Just read the info. Slimming companies have had us over a barrel for years. I feel so much better!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for the reply! So far 3 stone off I’ve just downloaded a calorie counting app so I might try that for a few weeks and see where that takes me 👍🏻 good luck to you also

Three stone off is amazing, I know lots of people who have lost a lot, it’s keeping it off afterwards that some find hard. For me, the not having to count and measure has been freeing. I’m not dieting, I’m not hungry and still losing ( almost a stone now) without effort.

Good luck with getting past your plateau.

That’s fab well done you!

Thank you! Weight watchers has changed drastically I go to the meetings also which is helping loads, because I’ve been doing it just over a year it’s getting easier with knowing how many points things are so I’m not really thinking too much into it.

My down fall is my fluid intake which I struggle at times with and went to the docs last week to see if I can find something to help me with going to the toilet (no.2) sorry TMI I’ve struggled with that for like forever it seems until this week so I’m hoping I will see a difference and that will boost the weight loss

Hey I’ve posted about all sorts! LCHF can mean you get a bit stuffed up. More water helps as does magnesium supplements but if I get fed up I just have a bowl of all bran!! 😂 not in the plan but when you’ve got to get it all moving...
